I agree his truck looks sweet. It is definitely and "inspiration 60" for me!
 
You could pick up a second set of door handles and a grill (cheap ones) and paint them black. Install them and see how you like it. If you don't you still have your untouched chrome ones you can put on. If you do like it, then you could spend a bit more time coating a good set of handles and grill. Just a thought.

I do have the old grill and it is pretty decent, certainly good enough to paint. I was mainly whining about putting the doors together and then pulling apart to change handles later. I've got handles on my parts truck so good there. I made a call to the guys doing the graphics and decided to take it there when it runs but interior still stripped out of it. Then when I get it back I can just try both looks and see if I like it. Popping that stainless on the door frames is unnerving so I hate to do that twice but might have to.
 
I guess, my last thought would be to do it the way you want it, not the way that is most convenient. You're attention to detail everywhere else on this truck is fantastic. You've spent the time to do it "right" and just how you want it. If you want Chrome trim, there's clearly nothing wrong with that and you can proceed without any hassle. But if you really want black trim, don't skip it just because the chrome is easier. Would be a shame considering the effort everywhere else.

Either direction you choose is gonna be sweet! Love this build.

You know what my vote is... Black it out!! I love the contrast. Mine has never chipped, I used plasty dip (Not the best of finishes) but the rubberized coating has really held up against chipping. One thing is it doesn't clean off as well as other painted surfaces, but I have had no issues cleaning it. Mine has held up for 5 years now, I am just about to redo it due to the chrome bubbling up under in some spots... My grill was a little beat up when I got it so I didn't feel bad about painting over it. But we are talking about 5 years in the elements with no garage... I think that's pretty great for no real prep. I really like what @Jasonredwood recently did with his grill. Turned out great! It's just a couple of pages back on the "What did you do with your 60 this weekends"

I love the way your truck looks. I saw @Jasonredwood's
post as well and I really like it. It is like JT's grille on his old 60.
 
I know it's probably not the approach you want to take but @Rockymtnreaper suggestion of Plastidip isn't a bad one. I've used it as well on the grill and handles on my 80. On past vehicles I tried a variety of paint options. All of them ended up chipping. Powdercoat would likely work well if the heat to cure the powder doesn't melt the plastic pieces.
Plastidip has proven to be very resistant to chipping because it is a softer more flexible coating. The other benefit would be that you could use it directly on your chrome parts (no sanding required) and could remove it later if you want and have perfect condition chrome again.

Again, just brainstorming.

Love em, but they slow me down, not speed up!

Got some done this weekend but not a ton. Locker actuators, e-brake cable, fuel tank, rear brake lines, some other small stuff.

Thanks. It is getting to where I will have to put off some things on the project to make my deadline. I hate to leave the engine un-detailed but it makes sense to wait for another time. The old seats will probably go back in because I want to do some more work (actually rework) on the hj61 "turbo" seats because the upholstery fix up left a lot to be desired. Extra storage bins, flip out side windows, major auxiliary wiring to the back, and such will be more fun later with less pressure too.

That was after sitting for the last 8 months. It sputtered a tiny bit from having some air in the fuel system but smoothed out right quick
