I think I need a powder coat shop. It would be pretty useful.

^^^^x2. Santa and the little elves happy place.

It really isn't that tough to build your own set up. The learning curve is like painting so a little frustrating at first but not terrible. I've been at it for 26 years so I've learned a little. Biggest thing is to skip the Harbor Freight and Eastwood junk and search for a decent used manual powder gun. There are some decent chinese knock offs of Gema brand stuff that would be fine. The rest you can make easily. When my days are done at my shop (if ever) I will have a home set up.

I have a couple of cool items going on for Chunk. First, I have been on the hunt for an original style ARB bumper and finally found one. Mud member @Ian Crawford sold me his bumper from his 60 because he has other plans for his truck. My buddy Pete (who went along on the Chunk pick up) picked up the bumper and met me last night for a beer and some ribs whilst doing the bumper exchange. He comes to Grand Rapids most weekends so it was a huge help that he did this for me. I have to do a little refurbish work on it but no sweat, we'll make it like new again. Another cool deal with another cool mud member.

It even rode part of the journey in a jeep wrangler! Hope it didn't get jeep cooties!

Heat shield pieces powder coated in "anodized silver".

The other big items that arrived today are the hj-61 "Turbo" jdm seats. Mud member @crawlin cruiser shipped them to me from British Columbia. They arrived still packaged perfectly so all good there. They need some work which I knew but I think I can get them into nice shape. I did a quick scrub on a couple and got a ton of grime off so I have high hopes. I ran out to an upholsterer that I know and he suggested a commercial fabric shop in Grand Rapids to look for a hopeful match to the blackish grey outside perimeter. The right seat bottom is pretty cooked on the edge so I need to rebuild it. The suede is a bit worn but with a really good cleaning and new outside edges plus rebuilt foam, I think they'll be great.
Very happy so far.

Pat if I had thought about it I would have put a pair of those seats in Sampson.

I hope they work out. They don't have the suspension bottoms. I might try to search them out. Also I I have zero luck finding material for repairs I will try to post another wanted ad in hopes that someone might have a single seat I can rob fabric from.

I bought a couple of more cool tidbits for Chunk. Both came from @landcruiserjunky and I am very happy with them.
I got my inclinometer a while bsck and forgot to post it, then the diesel badges this weekend. I will probably mount the second grille badge on the rear hatch with two sided emblem tape.

I did a quickie steel wool job on the badges and they shined up well. Just need a little bit more.

Pay I know someone that is reproducing that badge in aluminum. That is what I’m running on my rig.

Buddy likes to hang out a little too close sometimes. Now we are both covered in dust.

You can’t say he did not get his hide dirty for you getting Chunk ready. Awesome moments in the Journey. Powder coating looks amazing!!!

He reminds me to go throw a frisbee every half hour or so.

I'm looking forward to coating little items that will make nice details. As soon as this dreaded bodywork is done, which will be very soon!

Well, I finally made time to pull the driveshaft out of my truck from my road trip last month to get my locker axles for Chunk in Texas with a few added stops in Richmond KY, Nashville TN, Huntsville AL, Dallas, Marion IL, back to Richmond, then home. Just over 3000 miles. The truck picked up a vibration about 5 hours into the week long trip. I picked up new U-joints (which turned out to be the wrong ones- NAPA for the win) and a grease gun but could never confirm what the culprit was. @roma042987 helped me pull the rear diff cover and check that out in Alabama -all good. I got sick of fussing with it and rolled on. By the end of the trip I was getting a real nice back massage from the vibration. Made it home, and just now got time to fix.
One cap not getting grease, slightly worn!

I hauled all the parts to the powder coat shop to prime and prep for paint. That was nerve racking enough. Getting it all home will be interesting.

Primer/surfacer is on and hopefully will look good enough after blocking it down. If all is good it will be paint time!

I finally got the body/frame out of the trailer and into my tiny shop. I used ratchet straps to pull the chassis down and took all the air out of the tires but it was way tight getting it out el solo anyway, but I got it!
