make sure you do not use the snorkel pre cleaner in your rendered photo, it allows water in the air box. i have the same and with heavy rains it will fill up with water then sip down the snorkel and into the air box. it works well in dry climates but where it rains a plenty you will be stopping and emptying the pre cleaner.

Good to know, but I'm sorry to hear it too. I was liking the idea of it. There are a few different pre-cleaners out there, any chance one of them works ok? I know Donaldson makes one for tractor applications, seems like theirs might be ok?

i wold go with a good brand name pre cleaner. mine is german apparently but still allows water in. i noticed that the air creates a vortex and so water is easily sucked up, then it slowly fills the pre cleaner. Once full, it will start seeping down the snorkel. I drove once about 60 miles in heavy rain and had 2" of water in my airbox.

Bummer for me because my home shop is tiny but I brought the 12H-T home because work is so stupid busy that I have to make all the space I can there. Just have to make do. She makes a sweet foot stool. I think I'd rather sit and look at this than a TV anyway.

Clearly a first world problem. I have a few as well. Problems that is. Not 1HDTs

Wow, not good. Glad to know about that.

Oh, I have so much to complain about. The engine really doesn't have a soft place to put my legs. I can't reach my beer from that spot, and there isn't a good spot on the wall for a 65 inch tv.

Clearly I need to be pitied.

So I am getting my cable locker axles next month and it looks like they are in pretty darn nice shape, but I am going to go through them anyway. I am most certain the front axle is the same as the US trucks as far as knuckle kit and brake system goes- right?

On the rear, I know I have different bearings/seals being full float, but what about the brakes? Are they the same?
@CenTXFJ60 , @ceylonfj40nut , @roma042987 ?

Yep brakes are same as U.S. spec

Great. I kind of thought they might be.

How to you like your T-100 master? Does it help?

I've thought of the 4runner calipers too but really the 60 calipers look big enough since I wouldn't be changing rotor diameter.

You know I don’t remember it really making any noticeable difference but I needed or wanted a new master. My front axle currently under the truck is untouched since I’ve had the truck and in need of some maintenance so the brakes are very anemic. I haven’t installed the new cable locked axles I built for it (the ones with new calipers, rotors etc.)

Ok,I withdraw that question then:)

The best master cylinder for stock brakes is the stock master cylinder

Kinda what I was wondering, thanks. The brakes on a vehicle are a system, and mix and match seems wrong, i.e. messing with bore size and such. I would think that it would only help if there was some tech breakthrough since 1987, but I doubt it.

I bought a 12h-t gasket kit (04111-68031). It such a beautiful thing to behold a Toyota engine gasket kit.

Wow....you guys are doing a great job, gives me inspiration to get into things I need to get done on mine!
Keep up the good work and I’m subscribed lol!

Thanks man,

I'm a one man show so it's hard to find time but pretty much if I don't stay right after projects, I sit and do nothing. Kind of all or none. I have done the powder coating business for 25+ years now and it's cool but I wanted to be around Cruisers more so I started Bowfin to try to make a transition toward that more. Someday I'm hoping its all Cruiser stuff - parts (beyond roof racks), and some restoration/modding type work.

That’s awesome you’re a one man show and for that you’re doing one hell of a job bud....honestly wish you were close to me,I’d love to come and help and learn a thing or 2! Keep pushing forward, she’s coming out great. Let me know how that raptor spray works I was thinking of trying something like that with mine.

Will do. I have been kinda anti-bedliner but after a bunch of reading and seeing a customers jeep with it I came around. It needs good prep like all paints (and powder coating) to work right. With good prep I think it will work well.

I finally got a minute to work on the frame some after work. I had started to remove the axles and today got them free and the frame hanging on a powder coat rack so I can finish pulling bits apart.

Everything came apart pretty easily. The steering stabilizer mount has a broken bolt and was tack welded on. No biggie, zipped the weld off with the torches. A couple pins were stubborn but a big crowbar made short work of it.
