Carolina Relic Run - April 15-17, 2016

I wouldn't worry too much about the article affecting attendance. I'd wager the article (if there even is one) won't go to press in time anyway. Given the TT track record it could be April of 2018 before we actually see any article...or the official 2016 event pics for that matter.

I vote to exclude TT submissions for the 2017 Relic Run event. We can keep it our little secret. Let the event grow at its own pace on MUD and by word of mouth. We don't need TT to have fun.:meh:

Lately it seems that TT has been more interested in becoming a Toyota version of Autoweek and is losing its focus on the 'Cruiser community that supports it. ONSC has been the sole Chapter Reports contributor in most of the TT issues this year. We've suffered through page after page of TT reviews of brand spanking new non-Land Cruiser Toyota vehicles (4Runner and Tacoma come to mind) but no Relic Run article? Seriously? Before you know it we'll be getting the exclusive TT inside scoop and spy photos of the new Prius models. Oooooh! I can hardly wait!

Yeah. I'm bitter.

When JohnVee makes it to your house next time, ask him for his inside scoop regarding the perceived reasons why the Carolina Relic Run article hasn't run. I'll encourage him to bring a laptop to the next Charlotte gathering so he can show anyone that has been patiently waiting.

As several of you knuckleheads are among my best friends at this point in my life, I enjoyed organizing the event and the HC trips. I don't want events like these to be secret. I'd prefer the word get out so other like-minded/addicted individuals can similarly establish friendships with a great group of people. I'd like to think there are guys that are members of TLCA and get TT but aren't on often on MUD (or at least not the Clubhouse section of the forums) and that they would find this event right up their alley and a reasonable drive as compared to a lot of the sanctioned and non-sanctioned events. Not everyone is as crazy as Hendog and Mel Lowe, with their willingness to drive long distances only to hang with the likes of us for the weekend.

I'm pretty sure I had already been given the scoop. My opinion and position is unchanged. Last year's event was spectacular. I am looking forward to this year's event. I'll be sure to take a lot more of my own pics this year so I don't have to wait over a year to be able to see them.

Does this mean I can invite anyone with the pre-1990 Land Cruiser? I think you might be surprised how many "Cruiser Crazies" are out there wanting to attend.

Absolutely. While owners of Land Cruisers of any series will be welcome, given the theme of the event, the preference would be that the majority in attendance drive pre-1990 Land Cruisers. Given your creativity and passion, I am counting on you PM'ing me suggestions on how we can make it better.

I will tell you that I am proof of that. Ihave been a member of TLCA since somewhere around 1994 or so - possibly earlier as I cannot remember that far back

But I do remember the ORML (Off-Road Mailing List run by my friend Stefan Roth) and the TLC guys were overwhelming the traffic so a TLCA-List was created ... hell, Ididn't even know what MUD was until well into the 2000s ...

Anywho, I do agree that there are likely a lot of folks who own relics who have an incorrect vision of what we're all about but who might show up to an event like this and get hooked ....

Thanks @mel lowe for the invite. Looking to be a sponsor and of course attend. Please PM me with some info.
