Awesome build Jan. You will love the 5 speed, despite the lower final drive ratio. The 5 speed will love AC Delco Synchromesh transmission fluid.
Is that a true HF1A on there or a HF2A with Marks PT kit? The rear output housing looks longer than the one on my HF1A.

Jan, very cool. I've been speaking with Michael about a Wholesale Automatic VB for my conversion and will take a trip down to his shop once I have a bit more spare time. Thanks for adding the info for the injector pump and injectors. I may be using those service at some point in the future.

you did it in states .. local parts .. I ask coz we don't have local access ( down here in Panamá ) to the second stage of the injectors to be rebuild .. can you be so kind and share that info with me I would appreciate that ..

thanks !

Hi David
The rebuilder is Brian Clark, omega fuel injection, 619 448 3295. I am sure you can send him the injectors. Or you can send them to me and i bring them over, but i'll be in the mountains next week with sporadic internet acess.
Cheers

Thanks Jan .. appreciate that .. that won't gonna happen now .. but would happen, coz I already did ( last year ) one stage of my injectors .. but wanna do both ... so I will start looking for spare set ...

Just curious and I have an idea of what the answer may be. But what are these "stages" you speak of in regards to rebuilding of the injectors?

great build.
All 80s should have come with this set-up.
15PSI will wake that up.
What kind of EGTs are you seeing?
mine runs about 8psi on highway, set to 15max. The EGTs (intercooled) run 650F (preturbo), and never climb past 1050.

Any concerns about it passing emissions?

California now requires diesel emmisions, however it is for 99' and newer vehicles all others are grandfathered in. However I do not think Jan would have trouble passing emssions in California...even if it was a real test. Currently it is a visual inspecition that no black smoke comes from the exhaust :D...Honest that is all it is at this point, but it is exempt anyway.

Cheers,

Michael

I would of loved to go with the H151, but it wasn't in the cards.

Jan, I'd loved to see your 80 in person sometime. I'm in San Clemente and could walk over the county line in 5 minutes:)

THE coolest diesel cruisers in the US, I'd say. Congratulations on a most excellent truck, Jan. I hope you're able indeed to see another 250K behind its wheel. BTW, what ever happened to the BJ70 you guys were going to sell?

The Brown one that Jan used to own? Bob (the last owner) sold it to a guy in Ohio...so it left the State of California :frown:

But onward and upward, now into the bigger cruisers and bigger diesels :D

Cheers,

Michael

Nice job.

I will need to contact you when I am getting closer to my manual conversion project.
