Ahem... Please refer to TLCA chapter requirements re vehicles, then either leave everything as is or lets make sweeping and drastic changes.

and here they are:

MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
Another important issue to consider is membership qualifications. What should be the minimum requirements that must be met to become a member? Should there be an associate or non-voting membership? What about family memberships? Junior memberships? Should there be a minimum age limit?

There can be various combinations of membership qualifications required of prospective members. They may include such things as a minimum number of meetings attended, minimum runs or events attended, etc. But try to avoid requirements that are too restrictive or lengthy, otherwise you run the risk of excluding prospective members that can offer a lot to your club but for some reason may not be able to meet your list of requirements.

For consideration as a member in a TLCA Chapter, the minimum requirement is five owners of a Toyota 4-wheel drive vehicle. This is not to say that if a few of your close friends that have other 4WD vehicles cannot participate in your Chapter, but, to be considered for Chapter membership in TLCA, control of the club must be maintained by the Toyota 4WD members only, now and at all future times.

Well I guess that pretty much sums it up. By "control" I assume BOD and possibly voting members. Bottom line is that TLCA differentiates between Toyota and non-Toyota members so to stay with the TLCA guidelines we must as well. Thanks for the clarification, JohnVee. I think we've beat this horse plenty. As such my vote would be to leave the bylaws alone and not try to re-invent the wheel. If somebody has a legitimate problem with the rules, I feel certain that this group will do the right thing and make accommodations as needed on a case-by-case basis.

10-4.

Do we have a consensus here?

My $0.02 is in agreement ... It is not worth the overall hassle factor to change.

I agree.

If it ain't broke...

Alright, sweet. Now at least it's public knowledge that Cruiser owners and non-cruiser owners alike can all be members of the club together! It's like a big happy family :D

As always, if there are any questions that people need addressed in public, feel free to send me a PM. I'll do my best to respond quickly and accurately

While we are on a roll, what is the meaning of life? :)

There is no meaning, only Family and Land Cruisers. Enjoy them while you can :D

Johny, you forget one thing:

"and good conversation with friends while drinking. "

Y'all are part of my family :D

I completely agree

Coming from someone who has lost some family in an unusual way, Family and Friends trump LCs. Hold on to all three though as they are extraordinarily dear.

Damn, I thought this was a solid way to get rid of Meatball! :)

So I have been here about a year, have learned a lot (a real lot) about many things. Thinking about the recent conversations on elections and bylaws, I figure I share with all my infinite wisdom and knowledge as to what I see this club is, and is not.

I have learned that this club is not a:

· Off-roaders club

· Wheeling club

· Outdoors camping club

· Beer club

· Gun club

· Music fan club

· Cooking club

· Overlanding club

· Wrenching club

· Expedition club

· Technology club

· Hunting club

· Craigslist

· An exclusive club

It is a social club. Whose members have one thing in common, admiration for Toyota, and particularly admiration for Land Cruisers of every shape and size. It is an inclusive club where members get together and enjoy each other’s company doing the things above we are not a club for. Members help each other on Toyota related topics and in all the topics we are not as well. So members don’t need to drive in the mud, nor modify their trucks, or be “outdoorsy”. Seems to me everyone is welcome.

My interests were more in the expedition/overlanding themes, but I have learned a lot about all the things we are not as well.

Seriously, if we are looking to perhaps review bylaws, I would like to see the club remain so welcoming and inclusive, give those who have the energy and time to make the club better the positions they desire to help, heck you know they are all volunteers. Cheer them on!

Don't worry Izzy. I don't foresee any bylaw changes that will result in a more exclusionary membership policy. Like you said, that's just not the kind of club we are.

Will never happen... only changes we've ever enacted are to get more people in the club. Only one I can think of in the last 8 years was to offer a cheaper "student" membership. All that means is students college or highschool can be members at a cheaper price.... like a student discount at the theater

I support this 100%
