richardrichss,
Wondering if you got a chance to scan that template? Last post was in December and you mentioned you'd post it. I could really use it as mine was damaged by snow/water.
Thank you.

I don't have the template , but if anyone in the ATL needs to borrow a big power drill and hole saw to cut, they can. I would love to watch someone else do the cutting ...

I have installed the 70s top on mine and it seems to work fine , it does make a cool sucking noise which is noticeable louder then the ram head. I have been switching back and forth to see if there is any adverse effect on MPG.

I can see in a heavy rain environment or very dusty this would be better then the ram head.

I grabbed a mushroom top off ebay as well for this same reason.

Has anyone really ever had any issues with the ram head on a snorkel? The design of the head is to have water run down the inside walls of the ram air head, where it then runs down the outer walls of the tubing attached to the vehicle. But again, I live in southern California, where I believe it rained (I mean sprinkled) three times this year so far.
I've never heard of anyone hydro-locking their vehicle (or other issues) on account of a snorkel in rain. :hmm: Now in saying that, I by no means lay claim to know all things about snorkels and associated issues, so if anyone has any examples, stories, etc., please enlighten us!

Personally I would be far more inclined to get one of those cyclone air filters for my rig. :D https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/a-closer-look-at-the-oem-cyclonic-air-filter.459033/

Bringing this thread back up. Anyone know if the OP's snorkel is still available? I dig the "Land Cruiser" logo.

Anybody got a link?

Thanks in advance.

X2 on this . Noticed several different budget snorkels being sold on Amazon and Ebay . Which one of these is the legit knockoff snorkel ? Also has it been confirmed that the Safari can be directly installed if the budget snorkel does not stand up to the test of time ?

As far as the ram head goes regardless of what the literature says : I get water in my air box when in heavy rain. By no means would this really hydro lock an engine but enough to wet the filter and have some standing water in the lower area. This is a know factor and there is a thread on here about the TJM version with the fixed head.. Most folks also just turn the ram head around when driving in heavy rain for an extended period of time or offroad so things are less likely to grab on to it...

As far as the land cruiser writing on the side not sure if you can find that one any longer. Mine has it but I bought days after the OP did his.

I'd like to pick up a budget snorkel but I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get. Anyone have a link to the exact one they purchased?

Are you guys using the OEM mushroom tops? Those are as much as the snorkels are!

Nope, just another knockoff from ebay for $40! Seller is getting smart now and doing $57 shipped, I got mine for 9.99 plus 28.99 shipping.

13 pages worth of snorkel discussion and not a single in-use pic? Wheres the water?
