The drivers side inner fender is notched for the antenna and has the bracket base. It was a pita, but nothing beats a factory mast.

FYI. The hole has to be cut exactly in the same location on the fender so the antenna fits within the notch.

Shane.

Why did you ditch the antenna? I had a amplified antenna installed in hopes the signal would be better(not) so I could go with the TJM,but, I will be sticking with the Safari version solely to retain the OE antenna.

When you installed your head unit, did you reattach BOTH antennas with an adapter? The wire running through the rear PS window is an amplified antenna. I find I get great reception with the mast antenna retracted and could probably go without the front antenna completely.

Where do you get an adapter for the antennas? I could only plug one of my antennas in to my aftermarket head unit. I would like to have that rear antenna working. Thanks

I've got a middle east spec manual 100 series antenna PN 86300-60181 that I got from Kuwait. No annoying motors or cables inside to break. And since I never use it, it's perfect!

See new thread, didn't intend to hijack...

Never use the radio, ever. I have iPhone integration which is the only source of audio I use. Since I never use it, I didn't care to notch the snorkel for the antenna. Also tired of seeing the antenna going up and down when switching inputs.

May I ask what you did with the antenna opening?
I want to install a snorkel as well and also never use the antenna, but I am just wondering if I will have an ugly hole on the side of the car...

Hi,

The snorkel does obstruct the antenna by a few millimeters. You can hot form into the snorkel and Make room, or get creative and cap the antenna opening. We have two 80's series left and two 100 series if you were considering one of ours. I'll post up some pics later today.

Sorry Anthony, I was on my phone earlier when I answered Dragon, didn't see he was asking you. I have enclosed some pics of our 80 & 100 series mounted if it helps anyone:cheers:

I'll snap a few pictures at ACC with my good camera am post up. Has it really been a year?????

Nope, it's been more than a year. Give us some updates! How has the thing held up, any plastic oxidation? Rust issues? What have you?

No issues the plastic fading, cracking, or bleaching. The only rust is on the screws that secure the snorkel intake grate on. The plastic is not as hard as the Safari, I will admit. Every Safari I see has no scratches. Mine has huge scratches all over. I can't tell if the plastic is soft, or the branches I drive into are on steroids.

Here is the best picture I could find.

Why is your hood popped in this pic?

Why is your hood popped in this pic?

I was having cooling issues at the time, the extra gap in the hood allows for a huge amount of heat to escape. I generally do it when it's 100*F outside and your creeping around on rocks, that's a lot of heat, with nowhere to go.

This one looks like the older Safari design and doesn't appear (in the pic anyway) to have any logo or wording on it. $100 shipped too.

Here's the Newer Style that has the longer "arm" running down the fender. $139 shipped. The pic in the listing also doesn't show "LAND CRUISER" down the side like the earlier ones in this thread.

I'd like one for our BJ60 w/3B diesel. :)

just did the amazon one for $109 TMD, guess we'll see if a few days.

How about a year update. any fading or issues?

Two year update for me, zero fading or cracking. The only thing I've touched is the two black screws includes to secure the plastic guard on the intake started rusting as the black finish wore off. I replaced them with stainless steel screws for $.25 and it's been perfect since. Zero other issues. Very happy with the purchase and modification.

Recent picture, scratched and dirty but holding up well.
