...there’s a couple of competent fellow mudders running shops here near Portland.

I am gonna assume the ‘Wit’s End’ kit is super solid, not really worried that anything from Wits is second rate... However, if I am hearing you correctly NLXTACY one of these local mudders running a shop should be more than able and have enough ingenuity to make the ARB F&R Lockers/York/Wits End operational?

Again, I am sorry but OCD is real. lol. This Wits End kit would solve a lot of riddles for me if the York kit will lock-up the rig. I kid you not I have been deep, deep in the threads mulling over the best location for the ARB compressor. I have agonized over it. Saw the Wits End tanks, filed that away but the long and short is that I am running-out of room to mount stuff. I want efficiency.

@Laisser aller I’ve gone to ridiculous lengths to make things as bolt-on as humanly possible. None of it is difficult but there are a few major components. If I’ve developed it for mere mortals than ANY knuckle dragger with a 12mm socket can install this stuff. :P

Adding the ARB lockers is just a matter of having 1/4NPT to 1/8BSPT adapters for the ARB locker solenoids and the air manifold I have takes care of that.

Great! NLXTACY

I am adding a part-time job just to make chit more affordable where the rig is concerned.

Thanks for holding my hand through what has otherwise been inane questions. We’ll talk more I am sure. Wishing Wits’End nothing but success.

I hate needing to do stuff like this but sometimes I have no choice. I’ve only heard this from ONE York customer but it seems there is an idler misalignment and it’s making the belt run along a non-linear path. Not ideal. All things being equal it seems like a York pulley issue (maybe swapped pulleys?) but it doesn’t matter. Need to get this one squared away for the customer.

Option one was the customer suggested cut and re-welding the idler strut to move it out 1/8”. I hate that because then everything he opens his hood to brag about his York, everyone gets reminded that it was hacked to work and really not representative of my stuff. I can’t have that. Which brings me to option two. Had a new idler adjustment bolt and collar machined to move the idler pulley at least 1/8” out. This should look kinda familiar because it’s the same idler adjuster bolt used on the alternator and the AC idler. Well, it’s the same I use on the York OBA.

Until I hunt down the actual issue, and hopefully it’s a one off issue, I’m posting my temporary/potential permanent solution. Sorry folks, I’m not perfect but I’m definitely trying

I wrote service for years; made some tough phone calls over the years: seen, heard or been part of all kinds of gremlins in the shop. That’s always been one of the most intriguing aspects of the industry for me; The relationship between essentially thousands of moving parts. I might add that I have also seen a Toyota factory rep/engineer spend all-day on a vehicle before finally walking away only to have that very vehicle come right back the next day.

Have a good weekend NLXTACY.

Anyone happen to have the part number for the 1995-1997 coolant pipe? That goes to the rear of the engine?

I have a 1994 but do not like that the bracket is against the coolant hose.

After enough pestering I've finally taken out some time to devote to alternative tank placements. This version is to put the tank between the front frame horns and mount it to the underside of the frame. It fits there perfectly if you have a Delare power steering cooler, JDM fan and winch that is mounted no deeper than 7.5". Measured from the back of the mounting face of an ARB bumper. I haven't decided if its just going to be one flat plate or a bent plate.

It was bound to happen. I overlooked something. For those that have the Wits’ End York OBA mod on your 1FZ Land Cruiser, a potential headache was found. This may affect only those from the batch last year but I’m posting up so that everyone can take a look at their setups to verify they aren’t at risk.

On the idler pulley there is a bolt that controls the belt adjustment on top. That bolt is long enough to reach the bottom of the bracket but does still out below it.

The issue is the bottom length of that bolt *COULD* potentially come in contact with the thermostat’s throttle body coolant hose. Over time this could damage the hose and cause it to fail.

If you have the capabilities to id recommend just removing the bolt and cutting off 10mm from the threads. That would eliminate the issue.

For those that don’t have the resources to make the bolt modification, and feel you need it, please contact me and I will send you a shortened bolt.

Just in case there is any doubt or concern…

If it’s a Wits’ End product I’ll warranty it. This customer had a York mounting bracket that had cracked. No clue how it happened because I don’t have it back here yet. But it doesn’t matter, a new one was sent out even though his only question was if it was ok to weld up.

The point being is I don’t want a Wits’ End product out in the wild with a “repair”. It’s not representative of my stuff. So I’ll replace it and I need the offender sent back so I can autopsy the damage so I can improve it on the next batch.
