Brand new Toyota oem radiator leaking

Has anyone see this ? This is brand new oem radiator that looks like is leaking. I have 500 miles on it.

It's hard to see due to the over exposure but are you sure the cap isn't leaking?

It may also be seeping from the upper hoses. Check those clamps and be sure it’s not them.

That little nipple hose that runs back to the throttle body tends to leak if the hose is old.
You can rent/purchase an inexpensive pressure tester and test when cold.

also the overflow hose, they can seep as well as that thumb clamp is not a tight grip
looking at where the dried up coolant is I think the overflow hose is the culprit + the cap doesnt look like an OEM one

Looks exactly like the "bad radiator" diagnosed by the garage in Spokane that did my worthless PPI, and which a 2-second evaluation determined was only a leaking bypass hose.

I have doubts that a failed upper seal would leak only one side. Ours is leaking on both. So, unless the crusty pink is on the front side as well, I would look straight at the bypass hose.

I remember reading @1MAC saying he had this problem with an OEM radiator recently.

Yep. Mine failed around 3-400 miles, I think. Leaked around the bottom cap. Dealer gave me another one under warranty and it's been fine for a few thousand miles, including several hot days of wheeling at altitude and a 14 hour drive straight home.

I ordered an OEM radiator from Toyota and had it delivered locally. The box was perfect inside and out. No apparent damage to anything.

Installed radiator and it began leaking immediately from the seam at the top by the radiator cap. Granted this was a 100 series, but still, it is known to happen. I returned it to Toyota/Lexus and they gave me a new one in return.

Post up another photo after it's cleaned up and you find the leak (tip: avoid aiming the camera in the direction of the sun/sunlight/reflection)


@pavell : what happened to the previous radiator, was it leaking, engine overheating??
