Wow, I have no idea where either one of them ended up.

Never got it from Spike Strip--he told me he threw it away because it was too damaged...bummer he would do that because it was a great help to me the first time around and I'm sure it would be easy to repair

It was pretty messed up on one side. None of my holes punched all the way. I had to finish them up with an xacto knife. There was a pretty good nick out of one side like it was dropped. I do think it could have been fixed with some creative dremel tool work. I didn't want to mess with it since it wasn't mine. I certainly wouldn't have tossed it. Weird.

I can't imagine how it got damaged but I'm pretty sure could have built it up with rod and fixed it. :(

I just read back and it looks like @Pistorman was the last one to have the one owned by @Cal40. @bparker was next in line after him but @myquestoyota sent him his tool instead. From there, the tool went to @Spike Strip and we know what happened there. From the posts above it doesn't seem like there were two tools moving around after Pistorman posted that he had it. I only see that the damaged one owned by myquestoyota was moving around. Let's see if Pistorman sees this and posts up.

Did this rental tool idea go anywhere? need to install a paki top in the next few weeks.

I believe I also need to source these rear bow brackets. Any ideas for sources to buy?

Most people just use a conduit bracket at that location. You may need to ream out the holes, but it's not hard. The lower one is more specialized.

Bump. Who has the one remaining tool? @Pistorman?

Hey man, long time since I've been here and I even moved and sold my FJ40, sadly so.

I never received any loaner tool. I never did get to install the grommets on my canvas top. I had it on for a while, grommetless, but I used the hardtop most of the time. Sorry I can't help much here.

Mine disappeared into the ether. Gone but not forgotten.

:mad:To all, I have it now, I should be done with it in a week. I would have it by this weekend but my twist fasteners and eyelets appeared to have been taken hostage by a pack of invisible giant sized ants that every now and then appear in my garage along with the ghost that rides my road bike, leaves it muddied and never recharges my bike's GPS... They took those twist fasteners along with a plastic jar full of anodized metric bolts, nuts and screws... go figure... SOR came to the rescue just waiting on delivery.

Why did you say you had it?
