Assembling all of the smaller components into kits. I’m getting really close to being done. Still have another big OEM order to do still but otherwise it’s close ;)

So how close is the whole kit and carb cert? Any ballpark ETA? Because I need to get a little bit more serious about getting my HG done. Anyone in Sacramento area know of a trust worthy shop for HG?

Sorry to be “that guy”, but removing the upper pan is an absolute pain. I don’t know if having a pro install this part might be a better alternative for some folks, but if you’re not a regular wrencher, do not take this pan removal job lightly. You have to lift the motor up an inch or two off the mounts (which takes an engine lift) along with a mixture of other suspension gymnastics, to get that mother out.

Removing the upper pan isn't necessary, it's just a good "while you're in there" for those of us who already have a leaking upper pan arch seal. Proper installation of the drain bung only requires dropping the lower pan, which is a cinch :)

Georg @ Valley Hybrids perhaps? Not Sac however, Frenso.

My truck is totally in pcs. Thats why i had my pan off. Sorry if that was misleading, not my intention.
Carry on

Like others have said Georg at Valley Hybrids in Stockton

It's ment to be done by owner.

I'm sure if you can service your front axle you can bolt on a "Bolt-On Turbo" kit.

Stockton is just under 2 hours away......need to figure out the logistics.
There is the other guy I'm drawing a blank on, but over in the Napa area.

That’s good to know.

I would just note to not assume it’s the pan arch seal leaking and talk yourself into this job as a “need too anyways”. It could very well be the rear main seal. And IMO there is no bonified way to tell, unless someone has figured a way out since I did mine 15 years ago.

Snap, getting close! Knocking out my compression check now, and if it’s good then wrap up a few other minor issues. Great job!

NOOOOOOOO :(

You MUST remove the lower pan. The upper pan does NOT require removal but, as CDAN mentioned, its a good opportunity for the rear arch seal. With lower pan removed, after drilling, you should use carb clean or brake cleen to spray out the inside of the area to let the shavings roll down. Then use a cloth to remove the shavings.
I know a few people are talking about doing HG in prep for this kit. If those people have to do a HG and take the lower pan off also i would consider pulling the motor. It would give nice acces to do all the work at once and knock out the rear arch and main seal. I am not saying this as a negitive it would just combine two big project. You could also do a lot of PM really easily with the motor out. Befor adding a turbo or SC obviouly you want a healthy coolant system. So you might even have the radiator out, then water pump, fan, oil pump cover, front seal and the list goes on. I know this can all be done in the truck but if you do it all at once pulling the motor might be a good option. Just a idea even though i know it is not needed.
