ya, I’m not intersted in how many you are making, just wondering if any of us can buy the kit once it’s realeased or is the only way to get one to be on the “list”? And if so, is the list full?

Ah gotcha. I only take some on as needed to financially keep the project moving forward. Whatever that number is it’s separate from what I am releasing. There is no “list” for interested parties. That list is never ever accurate and lots can change over the course of 18 months.

When I’m ready, I will give everyone one week notice to get their affairs in order, hide money movement from wives, and I will post on MUD, FB, IG and my newsletter. Everyone will have an equal chance to get one if they want one.

Wait, you have a newsletter???

Isn’t there a way you could “trade mark, copy right, or patent” your work so others can’t replicate your design/kit? (basically undercut all your reaseach & design & production).

I’m not asking sarcastically, I’m just curious. I’ve never invented or produced anything commercially, so I have no idea.

A couple individual pieces yes. But as a whole no. There are many turbo 80Series out there. No one has detailed how to do it the way I’m doing it and about to go it with thrnproduction version.

Let me paraphrase that last statement: “Till now, nobody has done it right.”

Patents are cheap in cost in comparison to protecting a patent.

Patents were always part of my responsibility at three different companies. Minimum cost to defend a patent was around $50k. Average cost to defend a patent was $200k. Most expensive cost to defend a patent was while I was in Telecom (fiber optics manufacturing) was well over $1M and although we won, we lost a whole lot of business because of it.

I don't know s*** about patents and turbos but this thread has been rather educational in that regard. The entrepreneurial spirit is strong with this one.

Maybe the talk moved to Facebook. I don’t have FB. Every couple of days it’s nice to see something over here. Just sayin’...

I drove an 80 without a turbo today. It was depressing. You guys really need to experience what a turbo 80 feels like. Buy this kit. That is all.

Yep, when I bought my black truck and went from my turbo LX to driving it, I was like what in the world, this is ridiculous.

What’s the status of the intercooler?

My 12 yo daughter made a comment, even though she didn't quite understand the mechanics behind it. She usually drives off road and says to me, and I'm paraphrasing here:

"dad, when I push the gas pedal in the 80, it slowly speeds up. But, when I push the gas pedal in the 4runner, VROOOOMMMM".

The 4runner has a V8! ;) That would explain why the 4runner's right side is full of NM pin striping because she isn't able to react quickly enough when she goes vrroooommmm

I just received my sample J-pipe from Joey and let me tell you this thing is super high quality!! The flanges are incredibly nice and very thick, the welds are nice both inside and outside of the flanges. The Wastegate flange is a perfect fit for the Tial. All in all I am very impressed with the quality. I think anyone that is waiting for a kit will be happy.

Don't mind the water droplets, it is snowing here today and I couldn't wait to get home to open the box. lol.

Do you suppose having the j-pipe Jet-Hot coated would improve the longevity and performance?
