Everyone I talk to says don’t use the Diamond so I think I will just use an OEM housing setup for RHD.

I got zero issues using the Diamond under my HDJ80 UTE project.

Down in the shop a bit late last night, it is real hot here so that time a day is nice to do some work.

Tearing the front axle out but also doing some cleaning inside.

Anyone who has owned a 60/70/80/100 knows that the paint gets scraped off next to the kick trim piece. Over the years feet sliding across it take the paint off on the outside edge. Not on this Cruiser.

Whomever buys this I hope plans to keep it in a garage, it is to nice to sit out in the weather in my opinion.

Beautiful and awesome/sad that it fell in to your lap. Sometimes family sucks.

I'm shopping for one right now but this is just too rich for me. Wish I could afford it though. Such a beautiful truck and perfect timing.

Whoever get's it is getting a hell of a rig.

No worries, thanks for chiming in.

I haven’t even cleaned the glass yet and only hit the black parts of the dash with a damp cloth to get the dust off it.

I am starting to loose track of all the Cruisers I have had over the years and even other trucks. None match this one though “time capsule” wise other than an 87 FJ60 I had in 1990 with 40k miles. At that time it was in new condition cause it basically was. I would keep it that’s just not the plan or why I bought it. Weird situation that I am sure happens with shops over the years.

Super cool!

Following this one, should be a great build and special truck for sure!

Mild build with 105 parts, Slee 4” springs/arms with Kings 2.5’s, add a bumper/winch and later OEM wheels on 315’s would be sweet for phase one, turbo and 5 speed for phase 2!!!!

Man, if I didn't already have too may big plans / projects, I'd be trying to buy this thing from you as-is! Might be a better use of this RHD HDJ81 chassis than my current plan!

If I didn't have 3LCs now, I'd be there tomorrow. That's a cool truck.

Maybe if I sell one of the other three....

Steering box out, not so sure now that it is busted.

Doesn’t matter though cause we are installing the new 105 box.

So now that we have it torn down, shocks are actually ok and so are coils. Steering box seems ok as well. We are still replacing these parts but it appears the only damage was the axle housing, frame side coil bucket/shock towers and hole in the fuel filter. Pretty impressive considering how high the front end got and how hard it came down on the flat ground. I have seen far less completely destroy Jeeps! 😁

Cheers

New OEM housing I decided to use. 🙄

Frame side coil bucket and shock towers all cut off, grinding it back now before welding on the new ones.

OEM housing is probably a way better use of your time, doubt more than 1% of potential buyers know/care about the benefits of the Diamond housing let alone utilize it accordingly

I am one of the ones that prefer the OEM housing.
I know what the diamond is intended for.
This is not a truck I would use for that purpose.
Cool piece of kit, but not for me.
Personally I think it would look better on a truck with a lot of patina.
I also think what is being offered here is more than reasonable. The fancy axle is overkill.
Probably best for connoisseurs like yourself.

Honestly it was going to be the least amount of fab is why I really wanted to use it. We ordered it with a specific pinion angle and caster. Just tacked for caster and I still had to harvest some brackets off an axle housing. Less fab though. Like I say no probs using it in my project I just now need to order a rear to match! 🙄

Ian, stupid tech question, but would you mind sharing the process you follow to ensure you get those mounts back into the right position and orientation?

So they self align top to bottom, pretty much left to right as well. However we scribbed the frame on the edge closet to the firewall when we cut the old ones off.

Burning them on right now.

Cheers

Burned on. They aligned really nicely which tells us the frame is not tweaked or twisted here where the old ones bent. We will be adding one more thing to them tomorrow to finish them off.

The air box intake pipe that goes inside the fender was all smashed. I don’t think it was from the jump but either way we fixed it up.
