It needs to be warm enough to ride with the top down...at least for a little while!!!

Southerners

This is summer where I come from... of course, there aren't many convertibles in AK either.

Amen! It just ain't the same doing the twisties with a pup tent over your head. :grinpimp:

don't you have a heater in that thing???

back when I had my Miata (I know:flamingo:) and before I got in cruisers in college my top stayed down year round to the dismay of my female passengers :grinpimp:......and of course on several occassions I drove my 40 topless with no heat in snowstorms..... it is all about layering!

how about april/may time frame?

April I think will be good...
Here's what I'll be driveing (without hard top of course)

I like it Dave. Had a friend in college that had some rich parents and had one of them. I was able to spend some quality time behind the wheel and enjoyed every minute!

If David is taking the SL, then I might just show up with my new Outlander CUV. It's as light as the Benz, and has the same or better performance specs.:D

This isn't isn't a dig at you David, I love the SL's. Got a 72' 350SL (450SL) in my granddads garage I could drive. However, it could use a tune-up.

Heater? They claim it's a heater. hell, it's got a valve at the head like an old Cruiser and a one
speed fan even but no way can it compete with the cold air rushing in even with the pup tent erected.
Shoot the 40's heater is down right a furnace by comparison.
There is that issue but the real issue is is the muting of that sweet exhaust roar with the top up.
Screamin' Mimi is for fine sunny, dry days with smooth roads.
I've driven it in this current cold with the top and even got caught in a downpour this summer
but it SUCKS by comparison.

Heck all you guys taking those luxo rides gonna make me take the 420SEL. Hehe...I could take some
passengers along and the rear seat riders could just power recline the rear seat and work the remote controls.
:princess:

Remote controls....Now that would take all the fun out of it, wouldn't it??

I'd like to see the tach and spedo on the first one...That thing was screamin'

I'm glad God made me a guy instead of a transmission.

yeah a little warmth would be good.....keep the roads ice free...and the tires warm enough to grip. Summer Performance tires dont do well at freezing temps with snow or ice even. LOL

Fall stinks too. We went on a run up the the Dragon's Tail this past fall and all I could think
of on the spirited way up was "man there are a LOT of leaves on the road" and what would
happen if I lost traction on those mountain curves.

This is the guy who did my Dyno run last year. He also is the one who does some of my powdercoating as well he builds AC Cobra kit cars. This is one of them. Best yet he is is right around the corner from me.
