I just wanted to get a new thread started regarding my current electric power steering build. First, Let me start by giving a HUGE THAANK YOU to KEN at Welcome to ePowerSteering.com

He is setting me up with everything I need for the build. I will be sure to keep posted as we go.
First of all. A 1980 BJ40 (in Canada). Standard steering.

More to come stay tooned.

Never thought of electric power steering on my 40. Great idea. I put a kit on my 07Polaris Ranger close to 5 years ago and it's great, no issues. Was thinking mini-truck set up and think I found a box but I will hold out to see this.

Alright. Sorry for the delay everyone. I have been working like a dog on this power steering project, and it's coming together nicely. I have cut, welded, cursed and swore a million times since I started but I have everything in place. I am just now getting to the electrical installation. I have found out that I suck at welding. But otherwise everything so far is going well. More photos soon to follow. Stay tooned

I have found out that I suck at welding.

Did you TIG or MIG? I went with TIG. The inner shaft and fittings I had no problem with even as a novice/hobbyist welder. Good prep and having the right welder settings is paramount. Welding the thin outer tubing is tricky and mine weren't pretty. Grinder, a little bondo, and paint - looks good now!

I used a mig, and it looked like crap only because i am not a welder by any stretch. Its all roughed in and fully functional. The tidying up will be done once i have more time
