Been traveling for work and just got back. Got to drive and see some scenic areas today with Lee and his Boss

This week I plan to install the new shock absorbers on big red.

I guess it's one of those weeks. I tried to get the shock absorbers installed today but it looks like they are a tad too large. They'll only give me about 3 inches of down travel so we decided to wait and order the Bilsteins 7100s. But as it turns out, the earliest I can get them will be the end of the month. So here's another project that's being postponed.

But on the upside, I got to see a ton of nice land cruisers.

I'll be selling these in the near future.

You guys with the compound turbos, is this normal from the vent tube? Seems more than usual and I've added a little oil in between oil changes.

what is the travel F/R on those shocks? I might be interested. Bolt-to-bolt lengths extended and compressed for both?

@Mr Cimarron how much blowby do you get on the 6BT? I'm thinking this isn't bad, but you have more experience with these engines.
It's definitely gotten worse since adding the second turbo, but I'm told that's to be expected. I'm just not sure what the new normal should be

I always have a steady exhuast stream blowing out the tube while running and always leaves it’s mark.
My amuatuar test for blow by is to undo the oil cap and let it dance on top of the oil filler neck while running. If it doesn’t blow off your okay. Some people use ping pong balls instead.

Single turbo, and mine always leaves a mark, especially when coming off a long highway drive.

My concern isn't so much about the mark, but about having to add a little more oil now. I'm worried it's burning oil not just dripping it.

The Porsche has me paranoid about all my other cars now

How much are you adding? It's 50/50 whether I top off oil during my 3K intervals. Maybe add 1/2q if needed. You can add a catch can to see how much is blowing out the vent.

Think I'm at the 1/2 quart or a little over right now. But I did drive it from big bend and round up while towing a loaded trailer. So perhaps this is more of an anomaly than the norm.

Fully extended they are 32 inches and fully compressed they're about 21. I'm unable to fully collapse them, cause I'm weak in my old age.

I ordered the Bilstein 7100s , I should get the fronts next week and the rears when they are built at the end of the month.

nice, I just watched your video on how you installed yours.
Are you leaving the heims or adding bushings? I'm planning on the same shock on the 75 but i think I will leave the heim joints for simplicity. If they make a bunch of racket then I'll swap out for bushings.

No clue yet. I'll post up with what we go with. Leaning on bushings, but we'll see.
