I just bought a 1975 FJ40 that has the wrong bezel I think.

I think this bezel is stock Toyota but not sure? (I have the correct bezel in my shop so I can swap it easy.)

thanks

Aaron

thats not a stock bezel....i think i saw those for sale on a site some place but i dont remember which one, go for the stock white bezel chrome dosnt really have any place on a cruiser IMHO (other than the door handles)

Don't want to hi-jack here, but What is the stock color code for the white paint on a bezel?
and is it the same paint for the roof of my hard top?

is there any diff of the color white for years? or has the color white always been the same.

Thank-you.

I agree, chrome grills have no place on a FJ40. IMO:D to much bling.

thats not a stock bezel....

Yes it is, but not on that FJ.

The 79-84 had a chrome option and still available from Toyota

Up to 78 as well, but no longer.

I wonder if the one pictured was available in chrome or was it chromed?

chromed

Shane- I know the older guy who "redid" this truck about 2 years ago. He likes chrome and I would bet money that he paid to have it chromed. He chromed alot of the things on this truck. While I am not a fan of this much chrome on FJ40's I do like some chrome.

For examplem, chrome FJ60 wheels with nice clean center caps are the perfect touch to a 79-83 FJ40. Nothing looks better to me (IMO).

thanks for the clarification. I swear between Shane Walters and Landpimp there are too boys I would not want to get into a peeing match on LC facts. I think I know a bit but I would lose to those two guys.

Pimp is older and is much more wiser than I. ;)

I think I know alot, but I only really know the later models.

I thought stock bezels were silver like the hood hold downs not white.... I know alot of people who painted them white just to match the roof.

Some one please post a pic of a stock pewter bezel......................I did not know this was available.

and he says...
My Chrome is Oem. :D

(geez, I'm cuttin and pastin worse than rugster tonight! :D )

no pic attached, but I am guessing the bezel in question a the LAND CRUISER stamped bezel as used thru 1963-ish and is chrome....chrome was not an option, it was chromed at some latter point by a PO.

Never actaully seen a pewter color bezel.....not to say they don't exist

79+ were chrome or the white/off white, I'd call them white, seem a bit whiter than the pre 79.

pre 79 there were at least 2 colors, off white(like top) and a tan-ish color

tan-ish, new in the bag

new in the box 79+ chrome

I dont' believe black was ever a OEM bezel color......but might be wrong

Shane.....old yes, wise.....not so much anymore ;)

The tannish one looks correct for 67 or so...later 40's were much whiter. Only white and chrome for the 79 and up, my 80 is cygnus, I painted the bezel cygnus, probably should be closer to the white of my daughter's 85 pickup, slighly lighter in color. Personally, I haven't seen a silver/pewter one that hasn't been repainted. Never saw a stock black one either, most were on white or light trucks and were resprayed to keep some contrast. My 40 is pretty much all the same color..
