Best replacement radiator for the money today...

Got my moshimoto in today and bolted in. Only had a slight issue with the bolts for the brackets just a hair off. I was able to bend the bracket slightly to get the holes to line up. Also added a strip of weather striping to fill a slight gap at the top, shown in a previous post. My oem hoses fit nice and tight. No worries there.
I'm replacing heater Tee and hoses while the system is drained. Will do that tomorrow. But it's almost buttoned up.

Looks great. I need to pull mine out of the closet and dust it off!

Any issues with mounting the fan shroud?

I just purchased a Mishimoto R2282 radiator with plastic tanks and the box was pretty beat up. Most of the tubes look ok but can someone tell me if this is going to be an issue? Probably ok but would like a a confirmation. Thanks for the help. View attachment 2547231View attachment 2547233View attachment 2547234View attachment 2547235
Dude I’m on my 2nd one of these and it just failed after maybe 3 weeks of being installed. So disappointing. I contacted them and they said they’ll send another one out.
Edit: to clarify- I missed that my first one was cracked upon arrival and only noticed after installed. This was maybe 6 weeks ago. Then replacement arrived and it just failed. I couldn’t recommend this product to anyone with a good conscience.

Not really. As mentioned previously there is a slight extra gap at the top. I put an extra strip of weather strip there to close that gap. Doesn't take much.

More detail on the cracked original and the newly failed replacement. Where did the first one crack, where or how did second one fail? Pictures if you got em.

Has anyone installed (tried) pre-2003 OEM radiator (16400-50360) on 2003 and up? Price of pre-2003 OEM radiator is so much better. Curious to know if someone did this and actually experienced cooling degradation with less fins per inch.

I highly doubt the difference in the radiator fins had to do with a need for more fins. Rather just an update to manufacturing that carried over. If i were you I'd totally get the cheaper one. Besides, it's not like the aftermarket radiators have such differences, and the only problem anyone has had with radiators in general is in regards to leaks, not ability to keep the engine cool.

This is exactly what I'm doing on page 25 of this thread. I'm sticking a 16400-50360 on my 2005 and won't look back. $394. Any cooling degredation would be miniscule and probably not caused by the earlier model radiator but more than likely an already weak fan clutch, etc. AND keep in mind the 16400-50360 is spec'd for Mexico and other market 03-07 100's. Even Toyota's own parts website lists it for 98-2007. It does say Mexico Spec, but still, it will be just fine.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking to confirm.

Let us know how it goes! I've got my rad box sitting in my garage leering at it. I love getting those big Toyota boxes. It's like Christmas.

It will be a while before I get to it but yes I will share my experience when it goes in!

@hkimsoft I don't know the fin count on the 16400-50360 radiator. Maybe @harrydunn can measure.

FWIW, For 2003+, in an effort to reduce noise on US 100's, Toyota got rid of the AC condenser fan. At the same time, they changed to the higher fin radiator design. Related?

That makes a lot of sense.

I'm kicking around adding a condensor fan. I added a 100-series OEM condensor fan to my '93 80-Series. Didn't notice any real difference but my cooling system was working fine beforehand. A/C never kicked off, even in Moab in July.

FYI..... I bought a CSF from RockAuto after reading good feedback here, and it arrived in perfect condition, no damage to box whatsoever. I was working out of town a bunch and a father of a school friend to my son owns a shop, and talked me into having the work done there for the timing belt and radiator swap....

The CSF radiator had a poorly made filler neck/cap and the new Toyota Radiator cap wouldn't seal and hold pressure...
The shop charged me A BUNCH (I think it was $400-$600) for the radiator R&R and $300 for a new Denso Radiator so I could come get the car the next day.

They said they don't sell the CSF, only the Denso, and they would warranty the Denso for the future.

Also, Rockauto didn't give me a full refund because it was a little past the return period.... they gave me a partial refund and I had to pay the freight back.

Ask me how I feel about CSF radiators now......

Buyer Beware!

Damnnnnn that shop took you to the cleaners, i swapped mine out at home in an hour. Just a couple bolts and it comes out.

oh, I know I got screwed bad..... I told them it was bullcrap but I was stuck working out of town 4 hours away and no way to tow it back to my house to work on it later

Fool me once, shame on them, fool me twice..... not happening with these clowns

I need to buy a new radiator for our 02 with around 250k that blew the stock unit last night when leaving my in-laws house. Haven’t tinkered to find the leak, but was puking steam and coolant somewhere behind the core support on drivers side front where I can’t really see it, up at the top of the radiator where it meets plastic tank I think.

Toyota radiator looks like it’s over $700 online, yikes. So I was looking at either the Spectra, CSF, and Koyo for the plastic tank aftermarket replacement, which are all under $150.
For aluminum I’ve seen the Mishimoto for around $450. On Amazon there is also CoolingSky aluminum radiator that are somehow in the $200 range and have different row counts, but no reviews on those.
What would you get?

I was thinking maybe I should just get the cheap one since I don’t think I’m going to do a full cooling system overhaul with new hoses and clamps since they look ok. I already did the heater tees and thermostat less than 50k ago

Not long ago I had to replace my radiator. I found this thread. I researched and checked on prices. I didn’t want to spend the money, yet I really am glad I went with Oem. It mounted up very easy. I replaced hoses and heater tees again becouse I was in there. I’m not saying other ideas and different routes are not feasible.... I’m saying in my opinion I cried once, and am done. It a major component to the life of vehicle, reliability of transporting family and your investment of said vehicle.
I guess to me, Hauling the kids and Wife while pulling a trailer for a camping wknd... last thing I want is to Break down and be stranded- That’s worth a few hundred more in my opinion. Now if Oem can maybe help accomplish that.... I think it’s money well spent. Stay cool !
