Another complete failure by JToutfitters from where I ordered a few parts. They had my tracking number on the 30th one day after I ordered from them. I checked it again today and it hadn't shipped. I e-mailed them today and got a computer type answer back saying it shipped and to give it 24 hours to update. Basically they went "ohh s*** we forgot to ship his package" and then threw it in the mail. I've had good luck the two other times I've used them but they just failed ROYALY as now I don't have a few essential parts I was waiting on. That and it is not even possible to talk to a real person there.

OHHH WELL. I had a couple of hours tonight so I did a small bit of work.

Got all of the coolant lines up and fixed my slider on my drivers seat. Think I'm going to put a valve in the heater lines to stop the flow just in case I ever need to cut it off in the future (there is a lot of connections and places for a leak to start). But for now it appears to be holding water.

Also started pulling the suspension. Now that I don't have my bushings though it will be awhile before I get it back down on the ground. Ohhh well I have plenty of other things to work on. Everything was rusted good and didn't PB it enough apperently I had to cut the U-Bolts off and the spring pins as well. Have yet to get the spring pins out. I am going to have to Sawsall them. On the first spring I dropped down, a leaf fell out as a center pin had rusted away and snapped. I guess I need to add that to my list as well....so many small shipments. When does it end?

Rethorical Question? :D

Lets see if I can get anything done this weekend.

Well my wife actually came down and spent some time with me today and helped out which was nice. We were able to mount up the fenders and the hood and a few of the goodies on them. Before she arrived I was able to finish dropping the axle, work on the rear wiring loom, and put in my battery tray and hook it up. Then a few small things here and there. I finished up the day by cleaning up my head light dishes and installing the headlights.

So for those that know more than I do here comes my slew of questions I hope some of you can answer.

#1: I have a plug under my dash on my wiring loom with 4 wires. It is the only one left that has not found a home. Color code is Blue/Yellow stripe, Black/Yellow, Red, Black. I don't know if anyone with a wiring diagram can tell me what that is. It might help in getting power to EVERYTHING. I basically have the whole car wired up but don't have power going to my dash or any switches. I do have current flowing to my Altenator though on the other side of the loom as I got a spark while hooking up one of the leads to it.

#2: What is this? I remember it vaguely but not enough to know where it goes and I don't see any loose wire ends that it could have belonged to.

#3: Where the rear lenses ever Orange or did someone take the front Parking lights and put them on the rear? I thought they were all red.

#4: Just bought these from Cruiser Corps and this is as close as I can get. Did they make different lenghts for different years or did these Chineese knock offs suffer the same fate as many aftermarket parts and just don't work? They are simply 1/4 to 1/2" off.

#5: These came in my hood pad kit. I believe they go here but I don't have any holes in the upper fender to screw them into? Do I kneed to drill one and put a screw in there? And where in relation (front to back) do they belong?

#6: I'm going to be painting my Bezel soon. What is your thoughts on color. White, Black, or the slight off tan that my wheels are?

#7: I need to order new center spring pins as the rears were rusted away and I am putting shims in the front and I will need long ones. Where do you buy yours and since I need longer ones how much longer?

#8: I should probably go to the FAQs but what is our brake line size? Im' going to buy a loom of 25' and redo most of the truck.

Thanks. I'm off to work here in a few to go finish dropping the springs and front axle and tie rod ends. Maybe do some sand blasting and get my wheels primered and get the rust pits out so I can get my tires mounted this week at lunch while the shop is closed. I found a shop to make me a custom clutch line as well and will be getting that worked on Monday and hopefully back by the time the shop opens on Wednesday.

Old seat new seat. The second one turned out better. I'll take some better pictures as I cleaned up and painted all of the hardware as well.

Quick review of the Cruiser Corps seats. Don't have anything to compare them to but for the money they need a tad bit of work. Fit and finish is good. It is the details though. The front seat tops have a poor seam (on both seats) near the bottom outside. We managed to rip them both while putting them on. We were very careful the second time and it happened again with minimal pressure. It is hidden so not a bid deal but still something I wasn't happy about. Also the original seat covers come with metal bands to help hold the hog rings and keep them from ripping. These do not and you have to use the threads as support. Something tells me these will not last long. Being made in America I was expecting more. I guess I should have bought Japanese. But over all again they are very nice seat covers. I guess $400 doesn't buy what it used to.

when installing seat covers a heat gun helps preventing tears in the material and helps smooth it out after the install, also setting the metrial out in the sun for awhile be for installing

question# 2 - that is the light that goes in the underside of the dash pad

About your hood hooks, the 'seat' for the hook looks all gnarly and warped...are you sure some PO didn't F with them? Or is that just the way they come... I can't even look at mine atm to see.

J when you get this done and are ready to sell let me know. There is a guy at work i'm trying to convince to buy a 40.

Yes the PO had removed this at one point and put it back on. BUT my old hooks worked just fine AND the otherside is completly stock and has the exact same problem and missing it by the same dimension.

Will do. It has to go before I PSC in August. I am having a hard time figuring out out to get 3 cars out of here let alone the other two on two different sides of the country up there.

stretched clutch line

Need some help. I bought a new clutch slave from Rock Auto. Not worth the hassle to return it as they don't refund shipping. The fitting is not the same size on it so I'm assuming it is for a newer model. None the less I need to figure this out.

I'm thinking i will just spend the 10 bucks and rebuild the original slave myself (I've done this before and it is easy).

The real problem is when I took the body off during removal I forgot to disconnect the hose. That rubber hose stretched at least twice its original length. It returned to normal but I have a feeling that it might now work correctly. I tried to get a new one made at a Hydraulics place but they didn't have the right size fittings and wouldn't order any (YAY Alabama..they have no industrial base or care to succeed at anything down here).

So the real question is. Will this line I have (that was stretched out) work? If so I just need to get this thing on and be done with it.

Can't help you on the hose question...but what are you gonna do with that new clutch slave if you don't use it ?? (shameless I know)

When it is all said and done I'm going to have a few extra parts that either didn't work out or I didn't need that I will sell to try and recoup some of the costs of putting this together.

Question #5 above that is the right location but I can't remember offhand how far fore-aft it's supposed to be located (I think the back of the apron). According to SOR it looks to be a later-model thing, 4/75 and up.

My personal preference for bezel color is OEM white.

Thank you. I think I will drill a small hole and screw it in. The extra padding comes in handy.

Also I think you are right on the white. It would look funny if it didn't match the top (whenver I get that done).

Tonight I sanded down a couple of wheels and got them painted. Tomorrow night I will finish the other two and hopefully Friday I will get the tires mounted. Also hoping it works out to get my windhseild in this weekend.

Still looking for thoughts/routes on this darn clutch.

Question #5

Here's a picture of my hood pads. I think the bezel looks good as is. Great project!

I also notice there is a screw hole towards the front of your hood sill? Are you supppossed to have two hood pads? Also are those front hood pads stock? I know on mine the are two piece units that hook in the front bib. Thank you for the picture. I never even thought about color matching the bezel.

Cruiser Corps makes some good window rubbers for the wing vent windows. Sadly they do not tell you wich is which and I was stupid enough to put the right one in first, then tell myself it wasn't, then have to put the first one back in. In the end I am very impressed....as I should be for about 40 bucks a piece for some dang rubber.

Got my wheels all cleaned up and the valve stems in, yes I bought every kind they have instead of driving back, but now I'll have extra parts in my shop for that day I need them :meh:. By the way these are the ones you need.

So I got the tires mounted and they look awesome MINUS one part (Pic Attached). My other Treadwrights balanced with darn near zero zero, those were the AT's. These no soo much.

I managed to remove all of the suspension today. Still need to order 3 more spring pins (JToutfitters pulled a bait and switch on me by showing me a picture of 4 of them and then only selling me 1). I'm going to clean up all of the springs put in the new pins, shims, shackles, bushings, and tie rod ends. Then it is mount the wheels and take care of the small thigns. Windsheild should be in by Friday.

I took Saturday off to go take the LX450 out for some good mudding/rock crawling for the first time. Much needed fun.

Anyway here are a few pictures and hopefully more soon. REALLY want this thing running by the end of the month and moving on its own power.
