Rebuilding this carb. Spacer is married, broke this corner off. Having issues finding this same replacement.

Be my Obi Wan…
Show me the way.

(Edit: found a replacement spacer but this is good tech so hopefully it’ll get moved to the appropriate tech section).

Good luck! That is a 1 year only spacer :) Not an easy one to locate by itself.
Of course it is…
However, I’ll take anything that will fit. Not going for a showroom ready rebuild on the carb.

The spacer is so married to the bottom of the carb I’m pretty sure it’s going to be destroyed getting it off.

Stuck insulators tend to always respond well to heat and a plastic hammer. Otherwise I drop in ultrasonic on medium heat and plastic hammer or less will do the trick.
I’ll give that a go before I pull out the blood monkey attachment to my mechanical skills.

I’ll get in line behind you, in case there’s more than one out there. I have a dozen of the 75-78 with the EGR tube hanging around, but only one extra without the tube that I already have earmarked for a project.

Well I thought about calling you to see what you’ve got…

What's the difference between that insulator and the one that comes on the 61012 carb?

From the single pic, they look identical.

No tube?

The 61012 is half the thickness, which is why people putting 61012 carbs on 75-80 LCs need the spacer between the carb and air cleaner

Simple, it is thicker than the later carbs because it accommodates the 75-79 air cleaner/valve cover/egr tube which is taller. Starting in 80, the EGR tube moved to intake manifold and valve cover shortened.

In 20 years on this forum, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better example of two people describing two sides of the same coin!

FWIW the two I posted above are the same thickness and only differ in the tube on the earlier one.

About a brunette c.h. over 3/4”.

If a guy wasn't concerned about using a stock air intake above the carb, one could ditch the thick 1 year only spacer and use the thinner early one?

Could you re-build that outer corner with epoxy?

I’m not too concerned with “stock” and yes I could build it back up (still have the piece that broke off) but I’m a little salty I broke a unique piece.

Someone reached out to me with a fair deal on one but I will do my best to salvage this puppy.

How does some of the most arcane tech end up in the Classified section?

😁
It’s all great info.

Maybe we can get it relocated once it’s not a wanted ad anymore?

And for the win:

To be fair, the real reason it came off was that I just bought a replacement one…

Can someone skool me on the difference between the Federal '79 carburetor and the California version?

They look the same on the SOR identifier page.
