This FJ40 is kicking my butt. Just got it not too long ago. Trying to get her running. We were able to but won’t stay running long. It’s a Weber 2 barrel. It’ll run for a few seconds and then de. I don’t see a fuel solenoid cutoff.
I’m going out to buy a simple electric fuel pump and see if I can keep her running long enough to adjust.

Nothing is wrong with Weber carbs. They are on some serious sports cars. They have their quirks just like any other fuel delivery system, but are good carbs. You just have to know how to work with them.

Ive never heard of a proper running weber on a 40. Always needs tuning it sounds like. Just from my observation over the last 15 years

I did put on a 71 distributor because I wasn’t get spark. It has a vacuum advance? On the distributor. I saw vacuum ports on the carb too. All are open. 🤔

I’m certain the timing isn’t perfect. We have it close though. More to come tomorrow.

You could be 180 out on the dizzy. The carb backfire is a common symptom.

Line up the timing mark with the #1 plug pulled. Bump your starter contraption until you feel air escape. Stab dissy where it lands pointing at #4

Try again

WILCO!

Bet she would run great if you just put a bezel on her! ;) Sorry, I just couldn't let it pass.

I’ll slap the bezel on tomorrow before starting back on her for luck!

They are few and far between.
Properly is often incorrectly used, as they are an undersized carb for a 2f.

I’m OEM now, but my Weber 38 DGAS was running great. Just used a ton of fuel.
