Save yourself some headache and just find a OEM or get a troll hole. Unless you enjoy tinkering and being annoyed

Don't replace the fuel pump with a new chicomm electric unit.
Don't connect any vac hose to the stock, vac retard 1968-1975 distributor.
Cap all the open vac fittings on the carb.
Connect a 12V ignition switched power wire to the electric choke on the carb.
Static set the ignition timing to 10*BTDC. The timing is not 180 out right now, or it would not run at all. It sounds like it's off by 20-30*.

Report back after taking care of the basics.

Originl OEM Aisin tuned by @FJ40Jim for the win.......

^^This^^
I struggled with Rochester and Weber carbs for years, they worked ok but I was never satisfied with performance. The P.O. gave me the original carb but it was really dirty. OEM rebuild was the answer I was looking for. Jim C worked his magic and the original carb is still working great nearly 20 years later. 👍
