Glad I’m outside! Finding media as far as 12 feet away.

Thinking of that same route. The time I’m spending unclogging the blaster could be spent with a wire wheel. Did my old Town Wagon like that and painted with Zero Rust in 2003. Current owner says it still looks good. My starting point on this frame is pretty decent rust wise.

Having never been to your part of the globe I’m curious, it’s only April...when does the humidity get “bad”?

I sandblasted my entire floorpan in the 80’s when we built my Baja...took forever, the modern stripping wheels must be way quicker and less messy?

It’s humid here most of the time. Got spoiled when I moved to Az. and then CO where humidity is around 25% compared to 50-100% here. I wirebrushed the Town Wagon by hand, took a bit of time. It’s all messy which ever route you choose.

Got the frame cleaned up and ready to paint. Still waiting on 4x4 Labs to get my adapter kit to me. Wish their website gave the buyer a heads up if there was going to be a long turn around. Been a month now, not responding to email or voicemail. While waiting there’s plenty of stuff to work on. Pulled the turbo and manifold to install a pyrometer probe and clean. Adjusted the valves and decided to give the valve cover some attention. Really fighting the urge to pull the injection pump and have it tuned. New injectors are good for 450 hp...but I digress.

The Benz motor has this vacuum pump that I do not plan to use. Mercedes sells a cover plate for a mere $350 pulse shipping from Germany, if you can find one. Came up with this solution. Metal ring drilled to match vacuum pump. Metal well cap welded to ring and drilled to match. Have less than $30 invested.

Do you plan to do hydroboost brakes?

Yes that is the plan. After having hydroboosted 4 wheel discs on my old Town Wagon and my ‘02 Dodge 2500, I was very pleased with how well they work. I will need vacuum to shut the engine off, but a small electric vacuum pump will do that task. 4x4 Labs sent my adapter kit out yesterday. Slowly moving forward.

hydro made a huge difference in my pig. GM 3500 boost and MC was $100 at the pickers and a few odds and ends and i was stopping on a dime for <$200.

Before I retired, I was collecting parts for several builds. I have 3 hydroboost units stashed away along with multiples of many many parts. My wife calls me a metal magnet due to my affliction.

My intentions were to use my freshly gone through 3:70 axles from Coyote in AuPig when I was planning on using the Cummins. The Benz likes to run between 2500-3000 rpms to be happy. Looking at an rpm calculator the 3:70’s with 28” tires doing 70 would be 2480 rpm. Switching to the 4:10’s that came stock on AuPig it works out to 2755 rpm, a happier spot. Can swap the new calipers and rotors over as well as the new steering components. Time consuming, but already purchased and here. Seems like things are starting to move forward some.
