spoke to the pisgah ranger station, the station supervisor, and on the 15th the road officially opens to traffic because of hunting season. Just like the horse pasture/jocasse gorges.

The trip is officially on....while not an UC offcial event any rig is invited.

Anyone got directions for me to post?

i work in down town then i'm meeing gimpy in pickens and heading toward the BRPW from there.

u wanna carrava with us or meet u up there?

seems pretty easy to find. Just west of milemarker 420 i think. Turned in slip to be off today. Reminded wife about trip seconds ago. Still be scolded as of this posting.

should be able just caravan with yall up there

cool, once i meet up with gimpy in pickens i have no idea where it is so we will be relying on him to get us there!

We need to coordinate for food. As usual dohcdelsol i have no cooking supplies. Still plan on trying to build platform, getting a airmattress, and a latern. Might even get one of those small tent fans.

i'll have both my grill and my coleman grill/burner.

I also found my stash of propane :)

just bring whatever you want to throw on the grill

rode up there today. Easy to find. Lots of cars were there. Alot of hikers. Hopefully if we get there no later than 3 though we can beat the weekenders who had to work in.

When Jp and I were there in the fall there were maybe 6 vehicles total that I saw with 5 being those in our group. The camping spot at the end of the road was between two hills. Only downside of that spot was the wind. It was a constant 30 mph the whole time.

Also be prepared to get some nasty stares from hikers. Some will ask you what you are doing. I told them the deal and would point to my 4 yr old daughter in the back. That would usually change their attitude quickly.

I think most people were amazed to see a stock 80 out there. It is an easy trail. Just expect some pinstriping.

I am planning on comin up on sat and bringing my boy...this will be his first camping trip so I am gonna just go with one night out for his first trip.....I'm gonna bring a tail gate tent for some shade and haven't decided if I'm gonna set a tent up or crash in the back of the cruiser.....I've got a stove and fuel....still planning out the details....been too long since I've been camping and even longer with the club.
