Well, I'm scrambling to get this thing done by CM07. I've gone down and got the preliminary Line-X sprayed. Here's a teaser pic as it isn't really done yet. I had the tie downs powder coated to match the texture of the Line-X. Here's one of what the drawers will look like as well:

Thanks guys, I just keep tinkering away at it. Once I get this section done I'll start posting on the front two sections.

very very nice and simply superb! It looks as though you paid a fortune for those who would have thought you built it yourself CONGRATS! on a job done with perfecton.

Great stuff!

I wish I had 1/10 of the skills that you do.:crybaby:

Mot:cheers:

This is very impressive. Do you have a hard cost as to what it took, minus labor/design, to make?

I haven't had to pay for the Line-X yet but I have about $300 into it for everything everything else. The 500 pound sliders were the biggest expense.

Quick question, how did you modify the washers like that?

Sorry, I took one of the bolts and placed the washers on it (one at a time) and then placed a piece of tubing that was previosly used for some other project but was the right diameter and happened to have a little cone lathed into it over the bolt. With the bolt head down, I pressed them into shape with a hydraulic press. There was a little trial and error involved in getting my tecnique down though, I started out by trying to press them with a deep socket (it stuck to the washer:eek: ).

After just finishing mine I know what a PITA it is to build sliding drawers. Congrats on a very professional job.

I love the countersunk washers.

I wish I saw this thread before I did mine:doh:

Excellent work and probably one of the top 2 home made drawer designs on my list (yours and Jeff Kauffman's). Looks like I need to redo mine now!!

After sleeping on it and looking at these again this morning, It's got me in the mood to build some for mine now. Hope you don't mind if i
steel some of your ideas.

You mentions about making the front section bolt in and out when the back seats are removed, have you done this yet or do you have any pix ?

Once again job well done...

Cheers,
Ben.

I've cut alot of the pieces for the front but I haven't had time to assemble anything yet. I've installed some threaded inserts on the front of the rear section for mounting the front sections. Ultimately the front sections will be held down similarly to the rear section, to the stock seat bolt holes with the flush bolts and washers. They will also be anchored to the rear section via 3/8" bolts into the threaded inserts. I did this for support as well as to achieve near perfect allignment of all the sections no matter how many times I remove/install them. Here's a pic of the threaded inserts on the front of the drawer section:

How high it the box from floor to the top of the wood? Trying to scale the size and get a idea of what I am looking for
