I am working on a planned/guided trip up to Burgess Falls SP for a little hike and scenic viewing of the three big waterfalls just north of Sparta. Looks pretty nice up there.

It's only 8 miles away. I think we'll plan several runs to this park during the week (Tues-Thurs-Sat) for those that want a little diversion. Looks like there may be some other lake side activities further down the lake too.

Ok, so i got all the way to the "review and submit payment" and then there was a glitch and it shut down internet explorer. If it won't take my credit card payment who can i call to get registered?

Was this error encountered on PayPal's site or Upstate Cruisers' Site. Were you able to repeat this error? I'll send ya a PM.

Trailer Question

Rick / Marshall,
Being a slacker that has not registered yet, you may want to file my question appropriately ...

Will there be a place to securely drop trailers and some gear during the event? I pull a small trailer loaded with my trail tires and a few containers of supplies to the event. Then I swap off my road tires for the event which leaves me with a trailer and the road tires needing a secure parking spot for the event.

Thanks

Larry,
I don't see that being a problem. I will have more specifics by next week, but my understanding is that there is plenty of parking/trailer loading areas around the oval track and around the main pavilion/camping area. I think the "safer" area would be close to camp. To keep folks honest, I'd throw a lock on any containers you have on the trailer too.

Rick,
Thanks. If work does not get in the way, Melissa and I will probably get a room so I will probably need to check back regarding the plans for campers so I could park it near someone's campsite where it would not be too much of an intrusion.

Again thanks

Will see if I can make this now...may be going to Scotland in July so the week of vacation I had for this may have to shift to that! :P

This was just posted on the GMP website, very cool news.

Tromz, glad you are going to make it. See you on Monday up there.

basic recovery gear:

couple D-rings and strap
good tow points on your rig
hi-lift if you have one, bottle jack at minimum
definitely have your spare tire by then
radios are optional, but sometimes handy if travelling in a group on the trail. most have CB's, but a few might have hams too. We typically use FRS/GMRS radios.

Actually Rick i was inquiring if anyone wanted to donate/sell those items. Pardon my ignorance but what is a FRS/GMRS radio? I have a FCC license but havent done much with it other than emergency coms.

You can get a CB at walmart or any discount electronics place, radio shack for $30 or so. Well worth it on the trails. Makes the ride a lot more fun when you know whats going on...

your basic walkie-talkie type radios. Popular brands include Motorola, Cobra, Midland, etc...You can usually get a pair for $40 or so. Go for the type that take regular AA or AAA batteries and you won't have to keep up with specialized chargers and cords.

Well see y'all on monday. I have a lot to learn and looking forward to it.

I am officially registered and paid up! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
