That body looks close to the fill & paint phase, better get it done before you get that Montana job.

Mr. Trump gave me an extra 90 days to put my life on hold while I HOPE for a job offer. :bang::bang:

Oh well, gives me an extra 90 days to get busy on the 40!

@Jdc1, looks like I may not make the GSMTR, my daughter has a dance recital on the 20th, and I have a major electrical outage scheduled for the weekend before. Weather permitting. Just as we were starting to pencil in vacation on the calendar we got the emails for the dance recital, and the electrical outage..............well it is already 20 months past completion date per contract.:censor:

Understandable. We are about 8 weeks from the start of spring soccer. Indoor has been going on all winter but it's not 4 days a week. Kids are great but sometimes I imagine all the free time and extra money and boats I'd have laying around if we hadn't been blessed.

@rkymtnflyfisher that things looking good, sorry to hear you've been put on hold for that job. Stay positive man.

Thanks! Now if we could get a solid break in the weather, I may be able to get some primer and paint going! It will be all downhill from there.

Hell, it was 80* here yesterday. I'm a good ways behind you on our build, been putting in new metal I had bent. Counter and output shafts for the tranny came in damaged. Looks like your close to putting her in paint, you do nice work.

Poured some Jameson

Erin Gu Brath Lad,

You'll need to round up that intrepid aviator and come see me before you pull-pitch. Bring something to shoot and I'll treat you to a day on the range. I figure we could poke some holes in paper, knock the dust off of an opener and tell some "there I was no sh$t stories...

Tonight went to lend a hand starting to tear down a 40 for a rebuild, a little karma never hurts. Taking a page from the book of @65swb45.

A couple cruiserheads are opening shop nearby, @FloridaFJ80 is in the process of setting up shop, I stopped by to chat and turn some wrenches for a few. They are working on a 1980 FJ40 that needs some love! It will be exciting to see another 40 locally getting some work done!

Got a question for yah!

How plum is the body if you run a level from the top down to the back corner of the rocker you replace. My cruiser seems to slowly flare out towards the bottom. Ill see if i can grab a pic. Ive never compared it to another cruiser so not sure if thats just the way they are or not.

Somehow I missed this post, I will pull some measurements tomorrow evening if I can, off of the top of my head it looks pretty plumb. I do not think it flares out at all top to bottom.

Yah i think i figured out mine made contact wit hthe rear wheels at some point in its life thus pushing them out haha. Ill address that when i do rockers next winter!

That definitely looks like it is pushed out! Like you said maybe the wheel made some contact at one point, it also should have a weld at the bottom of it and the rocker panel. Hell, there is a nut and bolt in there also! I will shoot a pic of the side of mine this evening if I get a chance to get in the garage.

Watch out for the cowboys.

My kind of people!

Still hoping it works out. Thanks for the compliment on the rig, I am getting really close to being ready to start the paint process.

Sounds good man! Yah there was some funky body work done it the area so ill have to dig into it deeper. Where did you get your rocker panels? I just want the patch panels i dont need the inner or the curved area mine in great shape. Heck maybe ill make some haha

My passenger side I only needed the lower portion of the rocker, all straight steel. I went to a local sheet metal shop and had one bent in about 10 minutes. Cost me $12 out the door.
