Fab up some brackets for the BMW seats this weekend, I used 1" DOM tubing and some flat stock. The tubing was bent by a local fab shop, I did all the cutting to fit and welding. The seats were quite a bit taller than the OEM seats so I had to compensate for that as much as I could. That led me to make two separate frames for the seats, the idea came from a mud search.

The inner leg on the passenger side missed the mark by about an inch, looks like I will make something with a plate to make it solid again.

I recessed the mount for the seat rails on the inside of the DOM so I could get an extra half inch of room, the bottom of the tubing is just under 1/2" above the fuel tank cover.

I'm not finished with the welding on the frames yet.

Just a note.

Last pic shows the difference in height between the two seats.

Sums it up on how well the brackets worked out.

Pure luck.

Nice job on the seat brackets and the seats look real nice too.

Thanks and I'm shamelessly copying images for my collection. Having the steering wheel on the side of the tank, I only have about 13.5" from the top of the tank to the bottom of the wheel. So there I need to fit in the seats and allow for my thighs also. Most seats I looked at are at least 8" from the slider to the top of the seat cushion. Old FJ45 seats are ideal with only a 6" height, but very hard to come by.

From the top of the fuel tank to the highest part of the seat measured 11" on my seats. Pic coming soon.

Does e single seat on the other side adjust? I thought those 60/40 seats would be the other way. Are those the original seats?

I put the hardtop and doors on this evening to get a feel of where the seats actually sit. I am not totally sure on the passenger side seat, I may pull it and remove the sliders and hard mount it to the frame.

Anyone know what this part is? Where it belongs? It came out of the inside of my passenger door when I disassembled it today.
