Hallett Peak, in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. It is a nice 2 mile hike back to a few different lakes, the trail is crowded but the views are outstanding!

A couple shots from Steamboat Springs, I met a fellow mudder there with a sweet 75 FJ40, didn't get his name! Saw a few other nice rigs around, a whole **** ton of 80 series running around.

Which peak did you hike?
I have left tracks all over that park when we lived in CO, including a winter accent of Longs Peak! The winter in RMNP is spectacular, no crowds, cool temps, snow and ice, it is a different world.

It was sitting in a field with 2 other ones somewhere in WV, for at least 10 years, I was told that it was more like 15 years. 15 minutes worth of work on it tonight and it fired up! I need to fix the coolant system on it to really run the engine for any extended period, not bad for a rig that had been left for dead.

BTW, that one will be looking for a new home soon! Needs a ton of body work, but she has good "bones", engine runs, full drivetrain, and possibly a rear locker!

I am on the fence on that 40, realistically it should be parted out, but that would lead to one less 40 in our world. I would like to help someone save it before I part it out!
At a glance (in that photo) it looks just fine as is. Someone could easily make a trail rig/truggy/buggy out of it. Or, with significantly more money, restore it.
I am of the opinion that almost any rig can be restored as long as enough character pieces are still present. Rust, even large holes and missing structure, can be repaired. But if the original roll bar/ seats/ steering column/ original type axles/ drive train etc,etc are gone or altered it can always be a trail rig until it just won't move. Even then it can be an organ donor and complete some other build.
Its yours. Do what makes sense for you. If you've got the time let it be known locally that it's available whole or in parts and see what happens. You might rope another sucker into this stupid hobby.

The gifts from the great rustbucket from 73 keep on giving. I found the rear has a locker of some sort, I am clueless when it comes to lockers, so if anyone can point me somewhere to educate myself it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I am going to celebrate with another cold Porter.
Looks to be an Aussie or Richmond "lunchbox" locker, just a simple ratcheting locker but good find! Wish mine had goodies like that! The ones I find don't have any redeeming qualities and always are half cocked hack jobs. Looks like a great start (for us on the east coast).
