I just changed all the ignition coils and accidentally broke a piece on what I believe is the air intake hose. Two questions:

1) Is the piece in the middle of the picture with the black electrical tape the air intake hose? What's the exact name?

2) Is there a way to improve performance by installing a different hose since I have to buy a new part anyway? Any links?

Here's the image.

1) it's an intake tube

2) the black box on the front of the tube acts as a noise baffle. The rear Is also a baffle connected to various vacuum lines.

There is no replacement hose you can readily buy that will improve performance. Unfortunately, it is an expensive part. Recommend repairing what you have or sourcing a used replacement.

If you really want to buy a new one the part number is 17875-50190 PIPE; INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR. I would suggest attempting to fix it since it is an expensive part

Looks like 17875-50190 PIPE; INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR is the whole assembly including the boxes. I ordered just the hose on ebay using part # 17881-66110 HOSE, AIR CLEANER for $65.00. We will see if it's a match.

don't think that will work unless you have a fzj105 4.5l

It was a hard plastic tube on the top side. Clean break. I should have epoxied. I didn't have any and used pvc glue to glue the two pieces together. It seems to run fine. If I didn't fix it will the car idle roughly? That way I know what to look for.
I would buy that kind of long and wide zip ties. PVC glue the broken pieces, as well as the zip tie on the outside.

Seller lists it will fit but as I review the actual hose it does not look like a match.... Air Cleaner Intake Hose Tube For 1998-2007 Toyota Land Cruiser J100 1FZFE EFI | eBay

If replaced with a PVC pipe or a aluminum pipe with hose clamps at the ends should give it more intake noise (proper noise). You will have to get creative with the vacuum hoses but its definitely cheaper than getting a new intake hose.
Something like that but without the filter.
I had a Volant sealed air intake with a snorkel on my FJ Cruiser and the noise that thing made was beautiful.

Picking up new or used air pipe is easy clean way to go.

But one number remedy in mud, is a bass fitting thread on one side from a hardware store.

I've also plastic welded.

I've also used the super glue baking soda hack. Store bought, same thing.

See post #11 Scored 2006LC w/194K GrayBeard

PS PCV hose nipple is air tight and holding very well so far to air pipe. If it pulls loose I head to the hardware store and get a brass fitting to thread in.

I have a K&N system just like the one above that I removed off mine. PM me if you're interested.
Guy's I'd be interested in your old air boxes.

I know this is kind of an old thread but is there any chance an oem tundra intake would work?

I'm using the pipe section from the K&N filter kit for the Tundra/Sequoia replace my 99 LC intake.

K&N part number
