I've read several posts in regards to all of these lights being illuminated but have yet to figure out my issue.

2001 LC with 199k miles, new to me. I knew this could be an expensive fix before purchasing if it happened to be the entire brake/abs module but I'm trying to narrow it down myself without having to pay shop hours.

Brakes and brake lights work just fine, no loss of pressure. Ive done the test where you pump the brakes 40-50 times then turn on to see how long the brake motor runs. I timed mine at 35 seconds.

Ive tried jumping the terminals in the diagnostic port to get the ABS light to flash, however, all of the lights stay solid, but, the cruise control light starts flashing. I've also tried disconnecting the battery for an hour or so but the lights remained. The battery is older and I haven't checked the voltage output to see if this could be the cause. Of note, the transmission was rebuilt about 8k miles ago and I do not know if these lights were on prior to this or immediately after, or maybe not involved with it at all.

Would really appreciate any advice or help with this!

Can you take it to an parts store and have them pull the codes? Or state what issue the truck is having, besides the lights?

The VSC and ATRAC lights illuminate under several fault conditions as a safety feature, I suppose, to show those systems are disable. Those lights may not be directly related to whatever actual issue you are having.

That’s the next step, to take to a parts shop. I tried to jump the terminals to get the abs light to blink a code, but it stayed solid. No others symptoms. Drives completely fine and brakes work.

Those exact lights lit up on my 2000 and the code diagnosed as "Wheel Speed Sensor failure" You have four wheel speed sensors and I gave up on trying to figure out which one it was. I'm replacing all four.

And same happened to me when the ABS/Skid box died.
But I was able to diag it as that being the case because Techstream couldn't even talk to it.
No alarm.

02 LX470 here

I had ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, and BRAKE light all illuminated for the better part of 3 years now. Nothing felt off at all, I finally pulled the codes late last year. “Front right wheel speed sensor fault.” I just replaced the front pair using some after market ones from carparts.com for ~$52.

Brake light went off immediately, after driving about 100 feet the ABS light followed. I drove the 100 feet back home and the VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights are still on. Planing on keeping an eye out for them during my short commute tomorrow, if they don’t go off I am probably chasing another issue, potentially with the previous owner not performing the AHC delete thoroughly.

Update: I’m fairly certain that the issue is my ABS/Skid control module. It’s located under the dash, adjacent to the brake pedal. I’ve ordered a used part from eBay and will update once it arrives. There is also a who write up on how to repair this part by FJRyder.

From my research and attempting to pull the codes via jumping the two pins in the diagnostic plug as well as a scanner that reads these codes, you will not get any, as the module itself will not communicate. Fingers crossed.

Wanted to give an update on my situation. I replaced the ABS, TRC & VSC module with a used one from eBay, and my dash lights all went off. If you are having the same issues that I have explained, and you are unable to get a code from the ABS system, then this may be your issue.

Thank you so much to everyone for all of the input, guidance, and help for this issue!

Looking at buying an LX470 this week and wanted to sanity check something before I pull the trigger.

Truck has ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, ACTIVE TRAC, and BRAKE lights on.

Seller says:
  • ABS actuator/pump was replaced already (mentioned $2k)
  • Lights stayed on after replacement
  • Braking feels completely normal (firm)
  • He stopped diagnosing instead of throwing more money at it
From what I understand:
  • If Techstream can communicate with the skid control ECU, then ECU is likely fine and this points more toward a wheel speed sensor / wiring / calibration issue
  • If there is no communication with the ABS module, then ECU becomes more likely
Does that sound right?

Also curious:
  • How often do you see a bad speed sensor trigger all these lights at once on these trucks?
  • Anything else I should check specifically before buying?
  • Anything specific I should check in person before buying (beyond brake feel and fluid level)?
Trying to figure out if this is likely a <$300 fix vs something more involved.

Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Sounds right to me.

From what I've seen a speed sensor seemed to be way more common than the brain.

Sorry I’m just now getting back to this!

From that picture alone, this makes me think it’s the ECU. But like you said, without ruling out all of the other things, it’s not 100%.

Do you know if it will throw any codes? Once you get confirmation that the ABS and traction control will not throw a code/communicate, that’s usually the tell tale sign it’s the ECU-simple fix with just 4 plugs and 2 nuts.

My first through was the ABS module/actuator but I was able to rule it out with a series of tests. First, with the car off, pump the brake pedal about 50 times until there’s no pressure in it. Then turn the key to the in position and see how long it takes the brake accumulator to run. I believe the normal run time is around 35 or so seconds. That gives you a pretty good assumption that is usually ok.

I haven’t had my 01 LC for a month so I’m still new to all of this. No experience with the wheel speed sensors at this time.

Keep me posted and let me know how I can help in any way.
