This is the booster I'd like to rebuild...

all my reading has said that once they’re done they’re done. i couldn’t find anything about rebuilding my 72 booster either. i just got one from city racer. fits and works perfectly. looks a little different but mine isn’t a concourse restoration by any means!! if you find anything otherwise please post. i still have mine and if it can be rebuilt i’ll give it a go!!

I have never seen a replacement diaphragm for a booster myself. The other big failure point for boosters is the cannister losing seal because of brake fluid entering due to a failing master cylinder. In that case, I guess you could find the pinhole leaks and weld or braze them up - but not worth the trouble to me.

+1 on the City Racer replacement booster; I run one on my 40 also. Dual-diaphragm, and smaller (shorter) than the original, a superior product. Unless you are pursuing a 100-point restoration, this is the way to go in my book.

Maybe contact Georg at Valley Hybrids and see if he knows anyone in CA who can do them. I had the booster and master on my BMW 2002 rebuilt by a shop in Santa Fe Springs called Power Brake Exchange a couple years back, they were FAST and the parts came back in great shape. Not exactly full restoration, however, but very very functional. Here's their contact info:

There's also a shop called White Post Restorations that gets a great name for themselves in the BMW 2002 / E9 world, never used them but reviews have been good. White Post Restorations – Fine Automobile Restorations & Brake Cylinder Solutions - https://whitepost.com/

Just went through the same decision point. Opted for the City Racer Booster mated to the Advics MC.

You must be the gentleman that called.😊

I am! Actually thinking I’ll pick one up from you vs. rebuilding mine. Ultimately, I will rebuild mine just not at this time. Expect another call soon.

I have a few ‘survivor’ cores with the original yellow zinc plating still in good condition. It might be worth rebuilding one of them for this project.😉
