Something that I’ve been reading about. Works with HX-35 turbo, which I have but needs to be rebuilt. Going to call tomorrow and see if they make one for a HX-30. I’d love to jump to a HX-35 put in this wicked wheel to gain faster spool and more boost. This project gets addicting.

Before you try investing in a new wheel, let's get that wastegate functional again. Have you looked at wastegate actuators yet?

I’ve only found an actuator for a HX-35.

Man, I can't tell you the number of people that have been in my rig and commented on that same thing, that it doesn't shake like everyone makes it out to be. Just one of those false rumors.

Same experience here. Everyone from the casual observer to "4bt experts".

Try the kinuguwa stuff. They should have a universal actuator that we can adapt. If you get one with swappable springs I think we're looking for something in the range of 20-25 psi. Or (and this is probably better since it allows more adjustability) get a basic one and we can install a manual boost controller in the boost reference line to adjust total boost.

Took the air intake off the turbo to get info to send to Diesel Site for info on a Wicked Wheel for the HX30.

Noticed the front impeller blades have pitting.

I know pump impellers with pitting have performance problems so I’m sure it’s affecting my boost. I still can get up to 28 psi of boost in 4th and don’t notice noise from the turbo. There’s also no play in the shaft. Diesel Site said I could send them my HX30 compressor wheel and they could build me one or I go with my HX35 and rebuild it with a wicked wheel. They said the Wicked Wheel has no turbo lag, immediate response, higher boost and lower EGT. Diesel Site also has a wastegate for the HX35 and are finding out on the HX30.

Don't convert to the HX35 if you're going to stay as a single. Keep your 30 on there. The Diesel site probably has much more experience with the 6bt and not so much the 4bt.

Installed my M8000 WARN winch was still new in the box since 2004. Only thing missing was the bracket to mount the controller. Had some fiberglass channel so decided to use SS banding and band it to the body of winch. Got it all done in about 2 hours.

My drivers side has a 2” sag compared to the passenger so it will balance it out for sure. I’m on call for work, hopefully I can find some time to install them this weekend.

Hojack, what fluid are you running in your splitcase? Are you using the same gl4 as the nv4500? I have the same AA splitcase to nv500 and have read about fluid leaking from one to another. Have you experienced this?

Thanks

It is the same.

Have had some water get into engine bay from both sides of the hood. The hood crowl seal is fine it’s the sides that have been getting so water from the heavy rain.
Amazon Prime is amazing. Just ordered this weather stripping yesterday and it’s here today, unfortunately since I’m on call my 60s at work.

Since I have a HX-35 turbo that just needs to be rebuilt, compound turbos have been rolling through my mind lately. This is something both @boots4 and @The Phoenician have done. It’s possible to start moving that direction.

Or the unreliability.
Keep it simple! Do you really need that added performance?
I don’t. I think just having the HX-35 sitting around not used makes me think of ways to use it.
I guess it’s a lot like Tommy Boy when the guy looking at buying Tommy’s brake pads and says,

It should always be on the box. Comforting you, calling out "I'm good. I'll never let you down." " But if i do, i'm gonna make all things better.”
