While waiting Harlee wrote in her journal and her story book. Ryder shot his BB gun and we played laser tag.

Huge flock of Ravens circled overhead for quite awhile.
My friends arrived and what a reunion after 13 years.

Dinner then it was off to Crater Lake.

Eric had room for us all in RV and was a great time being together. His wife Corey allowed me to sit shotgun.

Eric and I first summited Mt. Hood together and then a couple more times, Mt St Helens and Mt Adams. In our friendship before they left the outdoor was our playground and what better place than Oregon.

Even after 13 years it felt like they left yesterday.

Camera in phone can not justify the beautiful sunset to the west with Mt. Thielsen the sharp pointed Cascade peak on the right.

Made it back around by 11 but the adults stayed up around the campfire 🔥 til 1:30. The stars and company were awesome. They totally love the property and think a cabin and AirB&B is a great plan. After their kids go off to college they want to move back to Oregon.

Beautiful pictures. Super envious.
I wish I was meeting up at SAS4 with ya Mike this year but next year. With COVID19 restrictions I’d rather get my septic in here. Perhaps you’ll have to take a trip to Oregon and I’ll show you around. 4BT roundup with @boots4.

Meeting up is definitely on my bucket list. I thought after overseas deployments, I'd have more time to travel, but its been one race after another.

Just got back to work:(

This is the highest fuel level I’ve ever had at almost 1/2 tank. Usually I’m closer to between half and 1/4 tank daily driving. 315.8 miles since I filled up in Chemult.
Have some great pics from yesterday at Deschutes River and Timberline I’ll share later. Also some tech stuff.

315 miles on half a tank is impressive. I can't get that from the 6BT.

That was about 50% mountain grades and 50%flatter terrain but all in 5th gear driving 65-70 mph. I passed a truck doing 78 top speed on my Speedhut gauges.

Here’s some tech info.
5th gear
65mph 1840 rpm’s
70mph 2000 rpm’s
My water temp the whole trip never got over 185F even with 90F temps in Central Oregon.
My limiting factor on grades/ inclines is EGT. 5th gear I can get almost 20psi boost but the EGT gets to up to 1250F and have to back off. I’m hoping the HX-30W Super with a functioning wastegate will help psi more heat out the pipe but I’m still learning. Aside from EGT the 4BT is a complete beast. It will roll coal like no other in 5th gear when I punch the pedal to pass. If I’m easy no issues with smoke.

Filled up yesterday before trip up Clackamas River. This was distance from Chemult, down to the Crater Lake property, some backroad exploration, back to property 4,500’, back home and trip down Deschutes River 1,500’, drive up to Timberline 6,000’, back home, 1,300’, drive to work, and trip to town.

324 miles in 16 gallons = 20.25 mpg. My drive up from Government Camp 4,000’ to Timberline 6,000’ was where I lost some good mpg. It’s a 7% grade with corners and it’s hard to get into 4th gear.
Very impressed with Project Snowball❄

The water is nice and cold 50s and supports one of Oregon’s best Trout habitats. Insect hatched provide amble food for them to grow and provide an outrageous amount of fish.

EGTs has always been the limiting factor on my 4BT. It's the engines kryptonite.

I’m sure, especially with compounds.
Yours seemed to be water temp too.
Water temps are doing much better with the shroud and electric fans. The Texas heat is no joke.
