I need to pick up a cb before the trip as well. I'm wondering if a handheld with its attached antenna will work for the trail rides since we will be in close proximity or if I need to get a antenna mounted or a magnetic one for the roof. I'm fine either way but being able to use the handheld without mounting an antenna would be one less thing on list of things to do.
I think I’ve seen it noted that the handheld antenna setups don’t work that well. A mag-mount antenna like a Wilson Little Wil should do the job just fine. Pair it with the Midland 75-822 CB and you’ll have a setup you can completely add or remove from your truck in like 5 mins. I think we just dropped the antenna wire through the sunroof last year with that setup.

This should be called the CB gold standard.

Midland 75-822
Wilson Little Wil

You NEED an extended antenna for CB. It will not work well without it. The above setup will run you about $100-130 usd and it works like a champ at surprising range. I would say to buy a ~$22 SWR tuner and be done with it for under $150. There are lots of videos on YouTube on how to setup the antenna with a SWR. In addition, I would bet you could sell the setup in the classifieds after HIH for a good chunk of what you paid. I just keep mine for running trails.

Thanks both for the advice. I'm out of my depth in this category so I think that's the setup I'll go with.

Finally giving Guzzler a raise! Lift parts arriving early this week and should be sitting higher by next weekend! :)

Adding a new awning as well, pretty cool and I'm excited to use it with rain!

Any small bits people usually forget about when lifting?

Extended swaybar links. Both help but fronts are more important in my opinion

Calm after the storm! Sunny rainbow monday morning after a weekend of nonstop rain when 99% of attendees have gone their way back home! Throw back to 2015
