that passenger side sure does tuck a lot nicer than the driver side. is that ever an issue for you?

Not quite sure what your referring too. Everything tucks the same side to side.

aaaaand that's what one gets when not looking close enough to the pictures and who's posting...was comparing your pic to somebody else's. oops.

How do I say this... bedsides I'm very impressed with how this 80 moves on obstacles.
In this pic below... most 80s would roll here if they stopped, mine would at least... that's a good 3.5 foot of drop there.
I saw the vid on IG.... Ill try to link it for you.

Also Max as a teenager has been more places in his 80 than me I sadly say will most likely ever be in mine.

As far as all this cutting of sheet metal..... Its his rig, let him cut.
Some cut after it gets dented, some cut before it gets dented.
There are different strokes for different folks.
Good thing there is more than one color 80 or flavor of ice cream in this world.

Very impressive. Max are still happy with the Three link ? How does it drive on the road ? have you added any sway bar to it ? . What front springs are running ? Last but not least can you share your link info.

Also when you make it out west [ I know you will ] I like to hit some trails with you.

Just for reference here is a crappy pic of me going up on 37s and a 3 inch lift 2 hours after Max was there. It was a struggle, I picked up passenger front and ended up having to wrestle it up. A very uncomfortable spot. I also had to stay way more right then the line Max took.

Makes the 3 link look really
appealing thanks Max :bang::clap:

Yeah I am still happy with it. Every time I drive my truck I love it (its my daily). Not for everyone, but I like it. Still no swaybar on the front. The performance on the trails is unmatched. There isn’t even a comparison between my truck and one with radius arms. It is more tippy on sidehills like many of said before, but for 95% of everything else it is a lot more stable.

Like going down that rock in the pictures/ vid above for example. I just picked my line and went down it. Any truck with less travel/radius arms would of flopped right there. I actually saw a Range Rover last time that tipped doing that. Makes fast stuff a ton more fun also. Some good shocks with awesome dampening and I have no doubt I could keep up with most ifs truck in the fast.

Honestly I was very Impressed myself. I had done this the year prior with the stock radius arms. 3link totally changed it. I took every optional line (just stuff like this with big suspension travel) and I would just go right through without even lifting a tire. Then I took the same lines down (much scarier) and truck just went down them. So much fun on the trails haha

I’m annoyed that I didn’t think to hit you up for that trip. Always fun wheeling with ya

Amazing what you can accomplish when you skip step 6! lol

Like most stock ifs rigs? Because no matter what you do, unsprung weight is going to hold you back. Especially with 40s.

OK, Max I need you to be real with me. With a 2.5" OME lift and otherwise unmodified suspension on 35s my truck honestly feels a bit sketchy going 70, 75 mph on a highway. Especially if traffic is heavy, it's not a confidence inspiring ride. We live more central to the city and have to drive out to get the the trails. Also we drive the truck all over the country for camping and wheeling trips. Eventually I would love the flex of a 3 link and no sway bar up front, but I don't want to make the driveability even worse for those highway drives out of the city on Friday nights and big road trips.

Talk to me about what the ride is really like especially at interstate speeds.

If 2.5” and 35s already feels sketchy and everything is set up correct than this Will no doubt be worse. Not trying to lead anyone on the incorrect path, when your driving my truck over 70mph you have to actually be driving and paying attention. It does move around more, and fast corners you have to be a tad more cautious with. Pay more attention to the road signs is all I’m saying. If it says 55mph around a corner you better not go 75 around it or you’ll probably die haha

Well, my stuff probably is not set up right, which I'm working on. But, that's exactly the kind of feedback I wanted! Thanks!

I’m rolling with a 4” lift 37s and no sway bars everything max said about driving faster than 70 applies. LOL!!!!!

The biggest improvement to my truck's handling after I did the 3-link was redoing the rear suspension and adding a splined swaybar out back. Seriously guys. Run the numbers. Pay attention to your oversteer. Fixing the rear geometry easily added an extra 10-15mph to my highway cruising speeds and the only reason I don't go faster than 75 is because of the wobbles from the unbalance beadlocks. Cornering speeds were also greatly improved. I can only imagine how much better it would be with a front swaybar. @nukegoat can also attest to how much better the truck drives with corrected rear geometry.

And I have a front sway bar, which is even more important than the rear. This stuff is a safety issue, guys. Dont underestimate the real engineering thats relevant here

This thread is so hot right now.

Got me thinking about my own rear bumper so Im sharing an idea in case it can be used.

If one incorporates the bottom tailgate hinge into your bumper, you can cut the body flush with the floor. Youve got to worry about the wiring in there but I believe thats all.

Its the tailgate that is holding us back but if the bumper can act as bottom mounting points then its gravy, especially if you can do without a swingout.

edit: body mounts are in there too but there have been a few solutions for those already
