That's what happens when an OCD aircraft mechanic retires and substitutes 80s for planes.

"Oh my god Becky, look at those nuts! They're not OEM!"
Bro, bite me. Is it not hypocritical for you to call anyone OCD? Let’s see, Lexus everything. Down to your rock crawler! You celebrate Christmas for yourself daily. Damn it, I think I’m just jealous.

“Oh my god Becky, look at that fleet. It’s just like, ALL Lexus!”

I bought a Ram to haul SB with. I actually feel dirty.

How do you live with yourself?!?
I admit, it's hard. My wife vetoed the idea of a used Peterbilt with some ramps and a deck over the hitch. Something to do with "no where to ****ing park all of my s***"

Nowhere to park your highly prized and invaluable valuables? Isn’t that the reason for the Peterbilt? I’m all for you buying one along with the car trailer to suit.

I think I just need a new house with land. Currently selling that idea to my wife.
I’ll be at the Land Cruiser/Lexus warming party. Ahem, House warming party. Stupid autocorrect these days.

Thanks for the kind words! It is nice being able to source so many genuine parts for a relatively low cost. I know you guys have to pay through the nose, but you guys get some pretty sweet toys. Maybe it a a decent trade off?
For sure! I love my VDJ79

On a mission to baseline my '96 FZJ80 currently. Using genuine parts wherever possible also. Unbelievable how many parts Toyota still stock for them.

A week or so ago, I put in an order on PartSouq for $1114. I knew I might get hit with import taxes due to the amount being over $1k. Sure enough, I got an email this morning for an invoice to pay $45 in import taxes. I have a new distributor, water hose, and MAF coming at me.

In other news, I should be picking my cruiser up in two days!

I spoke too soon; Kelly is a master at his craft and needs more time. Things happen and delays are inevitable.

I’ve extended my trip with my fam for a few days; it isn’t a bad thing. I’ll report when I’m en route.

Up dates ?

Hi Rich. It’s been a while hasn’t it. Got back from the trip and had to get the ‘93 white 80 I was working on out of my garage before getting to work on mine.

I finished the white 80 last weekend but had to jump on a flight back west to help my mom move her household goods from NM to TX. Picture a 72 yo Asian lady who can’t drive for shît trying to drive a 15ft U-haul trailering a 12ft trailer. Yeah, call me a hero because I just saved the lives of everyone who would’ve shared the road with my lovely, but horrific driver of a mother. You’re welcome.

Anyway, my cruiser isn’t running right now. Just have to get around to replacing a bad AGM battery and troubleshooting the severely low/rough idle. After that, I’ll be able to get her out of the garage and from under her YUGE Cadillac Escalade XL car cover and show you all pics.

Love,
Pell

Did you come through phx again and not let me throw beers at you?

Hey brother, negative. I had a relatively impromptu trip back to NM for July 4 and I figured it’d be a good opportunity to grab the cruiser if it was ready. We didn’t go through PHX but if we did, you would’ve been warned!! Hope you’re well man, haven’t seen any cruiser updates (not that I can talk).

Just giving you a hard time :)

Almost nothing, she's currently on stands in the backyard under a cover... when it's this hot in phx I don't mess with her too much, the company wheels has better AC and I am soft. Couple weeks and it'll start up again... the parts pile is growing... on deck for this fall is Gears (debating doing this myself)+lockers, PS pump rebuild, DC drive shaft, and a big fluid refresh.

A few things first. Had a bit of a delayed start after picking up the cruiser from Kelly in AZ.

Had to get my friend’s white 80 back into the shop because I put a clamp on like Helen Keller and had to readjust some things. That’s done.

After getting the Cruiser home, her battery was dead and needed replacement. So she got a new one. I did not want to fart and fück around looking for a battery like I did the last time but it seems stock is still pathetic these days for a good battery. After 69 calls and web searches, I drove 1.5 hours to Knoxville and picked this up:

I’m a one battery kind of girl so this should do the trick for my winch and other minimal accessories.

As for the rest of the cruiser, she isn’t ready for prime time. I had to buy a few bits and pieces that broke during disassembly or assembly.

For good measure, I decided to replace these. The cruiser is too pretty to use the originals. Man these things have weight to them!

My cruiser is now in build up mode. More updates to come.

Delays with the house have been keeping me from getting my cruiser running. I had a major basement flooding after a full reno…can you say irony? Then I had another flooding due to another unrelated issue so I’ve put the cruiser on the back burner trying to figure out multiple issues with groundwater entering my basement. Lots of money. Lots of digging. Lots of troubleshooting. Lots of money. And still no answer. Oops. Got carried away with life. My bad.

Anyway. Onto the cruiser. I finally got her running after picking her up from AZ at Kelly’s.

I have a few issues to sort through, but she seems to run pretty good. I don’t know if it’s my imagination because it’s been such a long time since I drove her, but it seems like she has a lot more pep in her step. It could be the new short block and refreshed top end and the new 4.88s. Or it could be in my head. I know all those things make a difference. Either way she is a blast to drive and I think she looks great with clear windows.

She’s dirty, but the paint looks great. I’ll need to get her washed and cleaned up, then finish building her up and installing her armor now. Hoping to get after that tomorrow!

Paint looking killer.

Neat you found clear glass... but man, i always feel like i am driving around in a fishbowl whenever there's no tint. Us desert dwellers like to hide from the sun every chance we get.
