Slee is selling DC front shafts for our rigs again, too. It's what I snagged.

Yes they are and in stock. I drove over and picked one up yesterday. Be ready to pay almost double though. I was going to go TW front and rear but the front dc was on backorder and I guess I’m getting tired of the wait game. Decided on front SLEE DC and standard larger DOM TW. Crazy that the TW shipped in a day later. Super fast turnaround.

@FMC80 i rode on a 3.5” for a long time with no issues on the front. Never rebuilt or removed it Only had issues with the rear. Rebuilt it several times.

Right on, I’ll wait for the Tom Woods if I have to. I don’t want to pay more than I have to and Slee's shipping rates to Hawaii are through the roof. This was going to be my DD in June but I just bought a beater so I have time on my hands.

You have over 3” in lift height right? No vibes? Baldilocks mentioned a part-time kit and so did Dave from Delta. I don’t have the means or knowledge for a cut and turn so I’ll likely go DC shaft or part time. We will see once I drive her, I don’t want any chance of vibes from anywhere unless it’s from my bed when I drop $.50 into it.

Oh yeah. I didn’t realize you yanked it and then did all the mods. You’re crazy hurry up and get that engine installed already. I go from 6 to midnight when I see your rig...don’t know what’s going to happen once you get it running again. Many women will spontaneously get pregnant with my children.

Thanks brother! My goal was to start and finish while my wife and kids are on the mainland. They return next week so I hit my goal. I’m in the process now just to make tweaks and gain confidence in her again. My wife plans to make it her DD upon her return while I drive a beater. I feel like I got swindled but she makes me forget all that with her Siren Song

i have arms headed my way. I have to wait and see about a DC shaft afterwards. Shopping around for a Tom Woods or Landtank. Might even go local. Who knows? I may not have my vibes but with those numbers, I’m preparing for it.

Ive had it for about 3 yrs now on a 3" and 4" lift.

I am having growling in the rear that I've been chasing down forever. I think we narrowed it down to the output bearing on the transfer case. Should be addressing it on Monday.

I just looked them up, Tatton’s Driveshaft out of Utah. Definitely a contender, seems they have a lot of experience. What problems did people report? Are you talking about the eBay reviews?

I think if you search on MUD, some folks talk about them. I'm thinking it was user error of over greasing them.

Right on. Thanks for the link, I’ll look into them for sure. My research suggests Drive shafts are not complex and they’re all relatively the same when it comes to form and function. Not sure what advantages a Tom Woods vs Tattons vs Landtanks would have over each other aside from name brand. I’ll read up some more.

In other news, I drove my 80 a total of 150ish miles since I finished all my PM. This morning, I got the dogs loaded up to go on an adventure up to Peacocks Flats and I saw a faint wisp of white smoke out of the tail pipe. What does this mean? Head gasket? @baldilocks may have jinxed me.
I just sent in an oil analysis to Blackstone labs but that was before I ran my cruiser after all the PM. I have a feeling if it is the HG, it blew yesterday upon returning from the shooting range.
No temp spikes. No milky s*** under the oil cap. The exhaust smells a little sweet. The radiator doesn’t smell like exhaust or fuel. In the meantime I’m going to get one of those kits to see if I have a failure. I don’t want or need this right now but hey, it is what it is.

Okay so the white smoke or rather traces of it are no longer present. The combustion gas check passed several attempts with flying colors. Specifically blue in color.

I’ll wait for the blackstone labs report and go from there.

I did and did the test. Can you see my post #195? The test was gtg. The engine was running for about 3-4 minutes. I’ve never noticed the smoke before so it took me for surprise. I’m not entirely sure what “sweet” exhaust smells like, I know I like the smell of my exhaust but that doesn’t mean much.

Edit* the original kit I got from autozone had contaminated fluid because some sonuvabitch cares only about himself. So I drove all around and found a bottle at Napa.

Yeah, I hate to admit it but I realize that now. My excuse is I’m in Hawaii and never see anything coming out of a tailpipe even on startup.

Then of course I looked up threads on Mud and although Mud and its members are amazing, it’s like going to WebMD and describing a sore back and then finding out you’re dying of vaginal disease as a man.
