After 7yrs my battery finally died with no recovery. Is this battery still the best solution or are there better options out there?

I’m gonna look in my manual since I can’t find info online, but curious if I should stick with the same CCA and RC of this one. Worked good for years, but without any real accessories and now I’m adding a winch and some minor lights.

Finally settled on a battery after looking at about three options this was the best fit overall. Fires right up instantly, which leads me to believe the other one was going bad for some time.

So I want to upgrade my battery cables and I want to be sure they are routed correctly. I have all the tech manuals, but I can’t seem to find a routing in there, but it’s probably operator error. Anyone know the correct routing or have pics?
Mines a 1992, 1HZ, LHD. Battery is on the driver fender well.
TIA!

Hello,

This may seem obvious but I will mention it anyway.

Make sure you change your fusible links as well.

1HZ fusible links have three cables with terminals. One has a round connector, the others are flat.

Positive terminal to fusible links. One flat terminal to the alternator cable. One flat terminal to the electrical system. About the round connector I am not sure, but if your truck has it, plug it in.

This is from a gas engine but it might serve for reference. In this picture I am holding the alternator cable. Fusible links in the back.

Negative terminal to the side fender. There should be a captive nut for a bolt.

Hope this helps.

Thanks @JuanJ I saw that fusible link on mine as well. I’ll snap some pics of my setup and see if it makes sense.

Put in the new seats from a newer HZJ75. They seem to fit just about right. Some came with seat belts, but I think some stuff might be missing, so I’ll have to look into that online later.

If anyone needs some old beat up seats let me know, I’d rather not just trash the old ones.

Reorganized the back with stuff waiting to go on.

Are those new front seats to be swapped in? Are they buckets that bolt right in or will you have to modify them?
Yes they are “new” 70 series buckets. I have to order brackets, but should be bolt in. What’s there are 4R seats with homemade brackets. They will be given away or trashed.

Does this seem right? I see the positive goes to the starter and then I have two grounds going to one spot on the frame. Anyone know what this should be like? I want to redo these, but do them right. Lol

Okay so I’m in a bit on a quandary…

My back is really bad and may even need surgery. This will mean I’ll like loose my business as I’m a one man show and recovery is 3-6 months. So I’m looking at things to lessen the load on my family in the interim and think towards a future job that doesn’t require lifting.

My Troopy doesn’t have a/c, heat or power steering and needs a good once over. My 2021 Tundra I built to work out of with all the cool toys.

Do I sell my Tundra so that’s money in my families pocket and I can’t do real manual labor anymore. Sell the Troopy since it needs some major upgrades and if I pay someone I imagine we’re talking big money. Then buy a ready to go Cruiser? If I did I’m leaning towards HZJ77/78 or a 80 series diesel.

Or do I keep the Troopy and pay someone to do the work? Is there a Cruiser that’s better for parts sourcing? I really don’t wanna sell the Troopy, but I’m not seeing this get better.

If I sell the two and buy one I’m also dumping two insurance payments and going to one daily driver. Likely I’ll get a mediocre job to just help pay the bills.
