So the gm maf was somehow mounted in the old Toyota maf housing?Pretty much what you see except I added a 4 inch inlet to the air filter housing which you can’t see for the battery box. The snorkel had a 3 inch inlet which was a big restriction.

Ya I agree. You can't change the maf housing diameter without getting the ecu flashed for the new diameterNot sure if you misunderstood or if I did. But if he changed the MAF housing pipe diameter it will absolutely cause an adverse effect. OEM parts have a certain piping diameter that would allow a certain range of airflow to be read accurately by the MAF sensor. However, if you change the size of the MAF housing then not all air that passes will be measured. In turn it won’t be able to read how much air is coming in after a certain point. This is usually around 5 volts. When you increase the diameter of the piping, you allow more air to flow over the 0-5 volt MAF sensor without overwhelming it with more air than it is designed to read through the change in electrical current as air passes over it.
Yes, exactly, Flashed/tuned.Ya I agree. You can't change the maf housing diameter without getting the ecu flashed for the new diameter
Did you see that he used the Toyota housing like mentioned above?Yes, exactly, Flashed/tuned.
Only quick fix here is if he keeps the larger piping except for the MAF housing. Reinstall the original MAF housing and put on reducers to go from 4" to 3.5"
No, from what I saw, he showed he used a larger 4" diameter housing and posted a pic of it.Did you see that he used the Toyota housing like mentioned above?
Yes it wasSo the gm maf was somehow mounted in the old Toyota maf housing?
Ok that's why I was asking for more details. I couldn't tell for sure in the picture. That is your problem. You have changed the maf sensor air flow rate by increasing pipe diameter.Yes it was
Intake pipe diameter is not the issue, MAF housing diameter change was. That's allBecause I do not agree. I think you made a very broad statement. I am no expert for sure but I have had my share of ECUs flashed for swaps and not once was I asked what size the intake was. I've fixed a couple botched swaps where I installed a larger intake system with zero negative response. I do not doubt that what you stated has indeed occurred but I do not see it as a singular cause for the OPs issue. Tommy also made a good point, sometimes just unplugging the system for a little while and hooking back up can work wonders. I do not pretend to understand all the computer related issues, I just try what others have reported worked for them and more often than not, it works.
Not arguing here but did you diagnose the problem correctly we haven't heard back from the op witch is normal. And yes I wasn't talking about the change in the size of the maf housing was talking about the real pinch point of air coming into the airbox is the inlet that goes into the inner fender well. Anyways I don't usually use a maf sensor anyway. @McDowra you get this figured out?@NCFJ So I know you guys have seen and worked on a ton of swaps, therefore I have to ask, what's the dislike for? I diagnosed the problem correctly so???
Cool on landcruisers or something else just curious here and of course I would like to see a picture of your work.No argument here, just talking from experience. I use to build intake systems for years on all types of swaps. I know that's the issue.
In the gym at the moment and pedaling away so my hands are free. So let's chat.. My father was an automotive electrician for 38 years before he retired. So I naturaly grew up always around them and obviously took an interest in the funner stuff like performance upgrades. Opened up my own place back in '98 as a Performance and Accessories store in SoCal. We worked on every car manufacturer, didn't discriminate. However I have always been a Toyota fan boy, again because of my father. Got into Land Cruisers in 2010 and have since worked on hundreds. Still own 4 Cruisers and 1 with an LS swap. Haven't posted in years on our Instagram page but you can see some of our shop stuff. Believe me we are not alone right @NCFJ You old fart lolAppreciate your patience with me. My wife says I always come off as being a dick. And my wife is always right. At least that's what I tell her.
I have not, gonna have it towed to my tuner will let you know what he findsNot arguing here but did you diagnose the problem correctly we haven't heard back from the op witch is normal. 100% bolt-in AC hose kit for Gen 3/4 truck compressor (and assuming using 4l60e/6l80e with stock crossmember/transfer placement) will be available to order soon. Will be a suction hose and high pressure hose (from compressor to condenser) already crimped to length, with adapters for firewall and condenser (with optional trinary switch port on condenser adapter) and compressor adapters.
