HA! Two new babies on the way ! One built in the Garage - One built in the house ! Congrats!

Congratulations on the baby, the promotion, and the end to the time working on the 60 due to the baby and the promotion.;)

Congrats on the promotion! Hope you like sushi, as you that's the majority of what you will get to eat!

Good job on the rear door!

Thanks! I do like sushi, and Japanese food in general. . . however, the last thing I want to do is go back for 4 weeks. . . not my first trip, take my word for it --> once is enough for a whole lifetime!

As for the rear door, I'm scrapping it. I'm just not happy with the way it's going. See below for pics!

LOL! The first baby is actually the reason I just spent a bunch of money buying retractable rear seat belts for the second baby!!

Please don't say that! I hope I don't lose ALL my shop time!

I'm still looking for the fender patch. However, I need the passenger side. Have you got one?

Sorry, scrapped that one a month earlier, would have been perfect.
Drivers yes, pass - no.

Great build... cant wait to see the finished product.

OK, I GIVE UP!! I've got god knows how many hours invested in this right rear door. . . .and I just can't get it to the point that I am happy with it. . . it nearly fell victim to a size 11 boot this evening.

I hate to admit defeat, but the overall effect of the four independent dents is more than I can repair. I even tried skim coating the door (as I was only 1/16" off contour in some spots), the problem is the door is basically "twisted". Well the skin is at least. It's hard to explain, and the pics don't do it justice, but it would look like a giant turd sitting next to my perfect 1/4 or front door. . . So, Anyone know of a rust free right rear door?? Help me get this turd painted, please!! :frown:

Either way, here's a pic of said door after spraying a coat of green (ugly green at that . . .it's the only thing I had laying around) on it for the sake of reflection:

Good news is that I have just about fixed the softball sized dent and scrape that was in the RF door. Pics:

Door or fender? If door, you'd be a life saver. . . of course picking it up will be difficult as I am in Indiana. If I throw some cash your way could you be coaxed into shipping it? Please don't make me beg. . .I'll do it, right here in my own thread.

congrats on the news of new bub on the way,im about to start building a 60 myself, your progress is amazing, shall be watching to see the end product, its gunna be purdyyyyyyyyyy

Maybe mudship? I shipped one of these to Maine from Seattle.... and it wasn't cheap. I'm crossing my fingers that someone closer to you will pipe up, but its yours if you can get the ride.

Alright, I'll keep checking locally. . . doubt anything sans rust will show up though.

Any chance you could get it to Southern Cal? My folks live in SanDiego, had them ship my RR 1/4 panel out (all 80lbs of it) via greyhound and it only cost $78.

Wow this is absolutely beautiful. Congrats on the baby.

What is your method of cutting out the metal for rust repairs. It is very accurate. Plasma, cut-off wheel?

Thanks,

Skinner - Maybe i can help get this shipped to you? (if you haven't found one closer)

I just read the entire thread in a sitting and am completely blown away! What an amazing job you are doing!!! Gorgeous shop and skillz i can only dream of.

Congrats on the promo and baby on the way. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your that you still get shop time. It would be a waste to have those skillz go dormant!

So - in appreciation of you sharing such detail - maybe i can help get this door to you? Mikesta is somewhere here in WA and maybe i can help get the door boxed and on a greyhound to you?

Mikesta - i think we've chatted, but it would've been a while ago. Probably for a rear lower gate? Anyway - if you both are interested please PM me and let's get #'s swapped.

I should be able to get the door from Mikesta and then it's just a matter of boxing and getting it on greyhound to you. I got a FR Quarter panel this way and it wasn't too expensive. PITA to box/ship, but i'm sure i can find something to do it.

GL!

Rob, that sounds great!! YOU ROCK! :D

You've got a PM coming!

Happy Hollidays. 16 inches of snow almost completely melted today.... so I was able to dig out that door... and found another one to boot. The brown one from an 81, the silver one from an 87. Take your pick.

They were pretty dirty... took a blower to them. The silver one has a scratch in the paint, but I don't think there is any dents.

I PM'd Sl33py and called him today. Glad its all working out!

I can strip the door so its lighter for shipping for you or, you can take the whole thing glass and all.

oh yea... forgot to post the link to the other pictures.

free door for skinner

Sweet man! All I need is the door, so if you can strip the regulator, glass, weathrstrip, etc. I'm sure it will save considerably on shipping. Looks like they are both clean with no rust! Nice! :D

I owe you and Sl33py big time!

Mike - sorry i missed your call. I work in Redmond so will see if i can swing by after work this week. I'll give you a call tomorrow to work on scheduling this.

rob

Sounds good... the door has been stripped and is ready for pickup.

Ready for Paint,

Well, a lot of work has been done on the ole' 60. I haven't left the garage for the last 72 hours. . . bustin' my hump (and the humps of 2 good buddies) in hopes of being able to shoot epoxy before I leave for Japan on Saturday (I'll be gone for a month, and I'd hate to come home to a rust bucket).

Good news. . . the hard work has paid off & she's ready for epoxy!!

Thank God for good friends!! Never would have got done in time without the help of these 2 homos (well, they are laying together in my cruiser;p):

Picture%20652.jpg

Of course, there's still a ton of work to be done; I've got to prep & paint the door from Mikesta/Sl33py, get my "new" fender from AZ ready & find another LR 1/4 panel (long story. . .the one I bought isn't going to cut it; too much damage & pitting). But, at least all the hard work up until now will be protected from rust for the next month. I'll post some more pics after I get done spraying tomorrow!!
