Thanks for shipping the shocks. They arrived last week. Now get to work on this project and post some updates please. This thread is my new vicarious form of entertainment.

Great thread! You have amazing dedication to tackle what seemed to be such little rust. Great to know where its hiding out at. Great thread... The rear quarters fit like a glove from the pictures...

What did you build your shop out of? did you do it yourself (ya know friends with Beer bribes?)... or did you hire it out?

Yeah, no problem. I'll start as soon as mine is done. . . how's 2012 looking for you? ;)

Well I should still be in college. So if I can pay you with beer we'll make it a date. haha

wow! what a repair job you have done so far, cant wait to see the finished product, i take my hat off to your skills.
when i do my truck ill probably get too anoyed with the rust repairs and cut the rear off behind the front doors!

Skinner,
On an episode of Extreme 4x4 Jesse stated that when doing body work it's best to bring the dent out and as close to the tolerance of BODY LINE to 1/16" depression. Filler that's greater then that will crack over time and you'll end up doing body work again.
For me, that would be a nice theory that I've never practiced. With the great work you've been doing, it looks like your doing something like that?

Thanks for the compliments man! I build the shop myself (did it all except the concrete & brick), with the help of a couple buddies (none of us being carpenters) while we were on summer break from the plant. I bought the kit from 84 lumber, went up really easily.

The next one wil be bigger though . . . I'm thinking 30x50 with a second story above. . . :D (there I go daydreaming again)

It's my first real go at bodywork on a large scale project. I took a couple classes in school, but never really put the theory to practice.

I have read a lot and watched a few of the "Professor Hammerworks" videos, and am basically following the concept you describe. I keep telling myself to strive for metal repairs that require no filler . . . probably wishful thinking!

I have to tried to say what I wanted to say in many different words, but still didn't sound right.
So I will just say "WOW<>WOW".
Thanks for this thread .

Hey guys, been a bit since I posted an update. Have no fear, I've still been working on the 60. . . it's just been a very busy time in my family's life. My wife and I just found out we are pregnant with our first child!! And, as if that wasn't good enough news, I have received a promotion at work (which sends me to Japan for the entire month of January; :frown:). . . it's been BUSY to say the least!!;p

Anyhow, on to the pics. I'm still focusing on the body work; I'd like to get the body in epoxy primer before leaving for Japan (to curtail any rust, etc.); it's a lofty goal!! Here is a pic of the driver door, it's ready for primer:

I've also been working on the pass rear door (worst, if you recall). I've made a ton of progress on the crease in the lower panel, and have skim coated body filler on the upper dent repair (roughly 1/32" to 1/16" skim coat):

Looking good. Congrats on the Baby and Promotion. better get the truck done before the baby is due. Your garage time will be cut to nothing for a while.

Thanks man!! I really do need to get the cruiser done ASAP. My wife and I just bought a pop up camper as our "family" Christmas present. . . and the 60's my only tow rig; go figure!!

Great strategy for motivation... did you ever find those lower fender parts you needed? I have the Drivers fender I can cut for you.

I'm still looking for the fender patch. However, I need the passenger side. Have you got one?
