Not sure if I mentioned it but I had the steps zinc plated and then spot welded the stiffening channel back onto the bottom. Ready for primer and paint.

Also got my rims back from powder. The color is known as ASA49 grey. I went to the coater with a rim before I blasted them and picked the closest color match they had to the non-faded portion of the rim. They'll look good with new rubber and hubcaps.

No, I use JIT cuz thats who we use at work and I get preferential treatment. Top gun is great, always had great treatment from Hugh.

JIT is more geared for production volume with an overhead automated line for wash/dry/powder/bake and cool. Send him 10000 brackets and you'll get them back in 3 days.

Plus his wife at the front counter is.... ummm...well, lets just say she's top heavy.

Holy sexy cruiser parts bat man.

No, zinc is done at Wespen Industries.

The idea there was to try and make them last longer. They don't make them any more ya know!
LOL

Actually, we were getting a bunch of parts plated at work so I figured I would piggy-back my steps on the PO and get that extra bit of protection. I had planned to send them to powder for a powder primer before color but I just ran out of hours in a day to get everything done.

And you're planning to wheel this when you're done. Sure, sure. ;)

Yup. This might necessitate sliders tho.

Modus Ulterious.

Wheeling kills far fewer rigs in Alberta than salt does I'd bet.

Yup.

I was positive I had the willpower to keep this rig stock. I still cling to the original plan of a stock rig by convicing myself that all the mods are "bolt-on"

OME 2.5" and 33" were always in the cards. I've just added an RTT and 8274. Still stock IMO. If I do sliders they will bolt on. Storage drawers will not make any new holes in the tub. Brushguard will bolt on. They're not mods but more acurrately described as accessories. There will be no PS or turbo.

And more IS better!

Ah even if you turbo'd and power steering modded it, not a big deal.

Your attention to detail makes the truck nice.

Here is sumore detail for ya

Factory power steer is not a 'mod', it's an upgrade. If the original owner could have afforded the option, I'm sure you'd have power steer now :-)

Besides-33s with Armstrong power steering? No fun!

Go for the power steering or be prepared to grow pair of arms to rival ah-nuld in his prime

Seriously, I'm having enough fun wrestling my power-steered hj with 33's when stationary...
