Also the 80 tends to lean more to the driver side, I think because of the gas tank, so putting the spare on the pass side balances the rig.
Are you sure. 3 jerry cans weigh 105lbs. My 33" tire is heavy, but not that heavy.

Sean, what are the pros and cons of having the ladder step on the DR Side and the
Spare on the Pass side?
I'm looking to get one of your art pieces, but just wanted to see the reason why most of your set ups are Ladder/Drivers side & Spare Pass side.
Thanks Sean!
Changing a spare with the tire swingout on the side of the road (passenger side) instead of on the traffic side (Drivers side) is probably a little safer too
I cannot wait to get this sexy thing on my Cruiser. This bumper is the best deal I've come across and Sean is a heck of a nice guy to work with! Thanks again Sean!

More pics to come!
I want this.
Wow, this will be my hardest decision on this purchase.
Spare on DR side or PASS side, lol...
The easy part was deciding on this work of art. What springs are you guys running in the back?
Im sorry but I dont get why people suggest its more safer to have the spare carrier on the passenger side. From my experience, you dont get to choose which side you have a flat tire.
You want safe - get as far away from the traffic when changing a flat. You want better visibility - put it on the drivers side. Lean? I dont see a drastic difference with my 80. YMMV.

It has nothing to do with what side you get a flat on. It's the direction in which the massive swing-out with spare tire will open. I prefer to have that thing swing towards the passenger side away from oncoming traffic.Im sorry but I dont get why people suggest its more safer to have the spare carrier on the passenger side. I have my spare on the drivers side and no apparent increase in lean one way or another, I did this to provide decent rear viability. In the end its all personal choice and there is no perfect option.
