I've seen these rails come down hard on a rock and literally save the LC's rocker panel, avoiding sure body damage. That was with the old thinner wall design that left a small dent in the rail itself that wasn't noticeable after a shot of Krylon. The new thicker wall rails probably wouldn't dent in the same situation.

Can you guys can either of you show a pick of where your furthest most front bolt or furtherst rear bolt is mounted. I am a little confused as to how to line it up.....

Does anyone that has mounted their rails own a LX?? The issue I am having is that there is so little of the pinch weld exposed....trying to drill the hole isn't working for me...

My 80 has an 0.75" tall pinch seam. LX must be different(?).

Yo guys, can either of you showe a pick of were your furthest most front bolt or furtherst rear bolt is mounted. I am a little confused as to how to line it up.....

Can't figure out how to add a pic via iPad but you basically line up the end of the rock rail with the end of the pinch seam on the rear-end of the truck. From there mark your bolt locations. Easier done if you have someone else there to mark while you hold in place.

Yes it appears LX is differant. I dremeled the bottom of the plastic trim off.

Also the bolts that connect the bottom of the trim to the vehicle need to be removed....no to worry though....

The new rails secure the bottom piece of the plastic trim to vehicle.

I will post pics later...but install went well once I noticed I was "differant."

In the beginning, I was hesitant to remove bolts, dremel the trim, etc...as I hadn't heard of anybody else needing to do it.

As others have said, rails are stout and almost completely out of sight.

Figured it out...procedure complete. Thanks though.

Good to hear, welcome to the club! As the saying goes, it didn't happen without pictures!

Here's two good shots of "Phil's Pstealth Psliders" around Sugar Loaf mtn, AZ. They're well made and will protect that rocker panel and if you're more into overlanding it's something to think 'bout. Total added weight: 50lb.

I'm impressed, that's Phil.

Nice "clearance Clarance!"

Please post pictures of the install, especially from under and inside.

Thank you

Still very interested in these... just a quick question... I'm assuming that you guys are using something to prevent rust from starting at the mounting points?

Tlin did a great job of posting pictures of everything you want to see in the first few post at the top of the thread.

Being from AZ we dont deal with rust but if the holes are a concern you could paint the inside of the holes:meh:

The rails on my 80 have been on for 2 years and no rust. I just checked our 100 series with the rails off and I see nothing to be concerned with but again Im in AZ.

The new Mud is slow as MUD right now.....yeesh. Anyway, I should have mentioned originally but after drilling, I shot each hole quickly with a can of rust-oleum (the same stuff that matches the primer that comes with the rock rails - I bought a can just to do some minor touch-ups before painting. So yes, mild consideration was given to try to prevent any rust....

If you are looking for pics of the LX install I will get some up shortly, as well as a "walk-thru" and review of the product and install (specific to the LX).

I need to get a car wash as right now they are covered in Mud.
