Have ideas, don’t have time. Need to find time :hmm:

Quit making mistakes and you’d have more time!

Frankly, you not having time is a good thing. It spares us from 162 page threads about overheating...

With the scout lock box installed, is there storage space between the top of the scout and the bottom of the armrest? I was looking to pickup the mini but that's out of production, I'd like to be able to store random crap in the armrest but not necessarily store in a locked fashion.

Yes there is about an inch and a half of space.

Please see photo of inside of my centre console in my 1996 LX450. Would the lockbox fit and provide a solution to this mess?

@luandacruiser for the LX lockbox it requires the two threaded posts that stick up but it looks like both are missing. If you have a way to add two bolts than most of that gaping hole can be plugged.

Thanks NLXTACY.

Toyota de Angola are a disgrace to the Toyota brand and I just know they won't have these bolts in stock or be prepared to get them.

It also seems that your solution would fix the bottom of the storage compartment but I would still have a bit more of the hole to plug.

I also have to bear in mind the exorbitant shipping costs to Angola which are normally more than the product itself (my OME springs and shocks cost US$800 but shipping was another US$850).

I am going to have to see what the local Vietnamese garage can come up with and compare costs. They won't be able to make a lock box but I'll see what they propose to fix this mess the PO left.

Not wanting to derail thread but any idea what PO had housed previously? He/she made a real mess and cut out bottom of glove compartment too. Thankfully he/she did seem to look after motor well.

Just an update since not everyone gets my newletters...

So my hopes and dreams were dashed when the metal shop didn't meet my deadline of shipping by Halloween. This one, turns out, to be my fault. Plain and simple, I ordered the incorrect hinges. The ones I got had a pin diameter that was too thick which made the knuckle too thick which pushed the lid forward which pushed the lock basket forward which pushed the locking cam out of adjustment. Unfortunately the metal shop had already welded the locking baskets onto the lids and the lids to one side of the hinges. When they went to weld the opposite end of the hinge onto the box is when they noticed there was a tolerance issue.

The fix is they could drill out all of the spot welds, machine off the difference on the lid and re-weld. But that would have looked pretty terrible and then the hinges would go thru another heat cycle. So instead I reordered the correct hinges and had the shop remake the lids and locking baskets because all in all it will take less time and money to just start those over. Luckily it wasn't on the box end. My new goal is to ship out before Thanksgiving. I'm really sorry about this folks. I did try hard to get these done in time.
Any update on this? Thanks, patiently waiting.

Last batch of Scout LockBoxes are done and off to the powder coaters. From there it goes to laser etching and then packaging and shipping. I am hopeful that these will all start shipping by end of next week.

For what it’s worth, there are only 15 left out of this last batch. Once gone...gone. I won’t be running anymore LockBoxes because I’m trying to save what little hair I still have on my head :(

Woo Hoo !!! Looking forward to mine....

Outstanding news! For those of us in CA who carry daily this is pretty much mandatory. Wit's End is, soon to be was, the only option that made for and securely attached to the vehicle. Thanks for making this last batch.

He looks let down that there was nothing in the box. At least he’s in proper uniform.

Scout LockBox orders are getting kitted up this weekend into the week in preparation for the order to come back from laser etching hopefully by next weekend. Lots to do and I’m out of a bunch of materials to make these happen. But no worries, those will arrive this week so I’ll be ready to go to start shipping out!! If you have an order in and need anything else, let me know.

Just mentioning I love My lockbox. One of the few mods I installed same day instead of letting it sitting on the shelf in the shop for 6 months. Worth every penny and zero "If it only had . . ." moments. Just waiting for my FEM to ship . . . .

Joey,
What's up with the lock boxes? You said on Jan 27th in post #955 that they would be shipping "next week" but still no joy for me or even any follow-up messages that they have shipped.
