That's very unusual. I have two 91 consoles and both are identical to the 62 Series and the size is a little bit off. It looks close but the casting size is different. Perhaps you have a late 91? Does it have an armrest lid or just the console cover?
My scout lock box fit just fine in the center console of my 91, it only had the console cover. It seemed to fit identically in the armrest style console I swapped in from a 95 later. These are my experiences yours may vary...:hillbilly:

So odd.

It has the console cover lid and both consoles were identical. I switched them since the '94 was in way better condition. My truck was born on 06/91.

I think its been long enough. After enough people have been bugging me, I'm doing another run of the Scout LockBox but only because I think I have a metal shop that is FAR easier to work with. They will be taking entire responsibility for the production but its gonna cost more per unit. But since I've promised so many people I'd honor the price, pre-orders will still be $160 for the first 25 units. After that the price adjusts to $175.

@NLXTACY Is there any update on the scout lock box production run?

The previous owner of my LX450 sawed out the base/floor of the main compartment of my centre console.

I have been looking for a second hand console to replace my now semi useless one.

i) Would your box be fittable in my console if there is no base in the main compartment?

ii) Do you ship overseas? If so, how? DHL? FedEx?

iii) How many $100 bills would fit in the LX450 model one?

(I will probably never have enough cash to fill it with $100 bills but I sometimes have large volumes of cash in much lower value currencies and would love a lockable box to hold cash in. It is more so I can leave people in the car at say a petrol station whilst I pay and not have to worry they will steal some cash whilst I am inside).

As an overseas customer I would prepay if needs be.

Do you mean the plastic bottom was cut out? If so its not an issue. If you mean the metal bracket was cut out then yeah that IS an issue.

All the time. I use US postal service or UPS.

2.5in. for the mini vs 5in. for the tall. I've never had enough cash to really know :P[/QUOTE]

Thanks.

Just the plastic bottom is cut out.

I am travelling just now but will get a photo of the inside of the centre console when I return. I am hoping your solution will neatly fix my problem and give me a lockable solution at same time.

I'll PM you at end of September.

My only concern is the sides of the console are slightly tapered. My LockBox conforms to that taper. If the box needs to sit about .75" lower then the taper itself may prevent it like a wine stopper. Pics would help.

Just an update on the Scout LockBoxes:

Keep in mind I am working with a new shop that has never done the LockBoxes before so I want to make sure they don’t duplicate the previous mistakes. The box bottom has been all cut out and everything looks good. They did a test bend to see how everything aligns and although there are a couple of nits on my side, it’s basically ok to move forward. This week they are supposed to be starting the lids and lock baskets. The new hinges should be coming in this week so everything is so far looking ok. The plan, rather my hope, is to start shipping out by Halloween.

Just an update since not everyone gets my newletters...

So my hopes and dreams were dashed when the metal shop didn't meet my deadline of shipping by Halloween. This one, turns out, to be my fault. Plain and simple, I ordered the incorrect hinges. The ones I got had a pin diameter that was too thick which made the knuckle too thick which pushed the lid forward which pushed the lock basket forward which pushed the locking cam out of adjustment. Unfortunately the metal shop had already welded the locking baskets onto the lids and the lids to one side of the hinges. When they went to weld the opposite end of the hinge onto the box is when they noticed there was a tolerance issue.

The fix is they could drill out all of the spot welds, machine off the difference on the lid and re-weld. But that would have looked pretty terrible and then the hinges would go thru another heat cycle. So instead I reordered the correct hinges and had the shop remake the lids and locking baskets because all in all it will take less time and money to just start those over. Luckily it wasn't on the box end. My new goal is to ship out before Thanksgiving. I'm really sorry about this folks. I did try hard to get these done in time.

Sh!t happens man. Anyone that has any of your products knows that you only put out stuff that is perfect. And worth the wait

Sure. But waiting sucks. For both of us :(

If anyone has any doubts about the quality of product they are going to get, they should dash them. My lock box is totally awesome and worth waiting for.

I WAS going to complain that you didn't have any more black t-shirts with the Wits End logo (my original is ragged from over use) but just checked your site and you do have them with the bonus 80 series axle ref on the back. Order in, balance restored.

Waiting on more sweat shirts btw

Have ideas, don’t have time. Need to find time :hhmm:
