Joey,
What's up with the lock boxes? You said on Jan 27th in post #955 that they would be shipping "next week" but still no joy for me or even any follow-up messages that they have shipped.

As of today they are done. The laser etcher called about 40mins ago. I just have to pick up and start assembling.

And yes, they WERE supposed to be final ready three weeks ago. :*(

Excellent news! I hope the laser part was worth it, 'cause it seems like it added a significant delay to the whole process. Personally, since it's just me that going to see it, a plain black powder-coated box would have been just fine. Plus there's that nice concealment liner that hides the whole thing. I guess until I have it in my grubby little hands I won't know what the laser etching was all about.

It cuts down on the weight...

I do think I have access to a scale that would be able to measure the difference. But the two samples have to be run very close together because the natural evaporation of material, even heavy gauge metal, would make for a big difference in this case. :grinpimp:

Its purely for branding. But its also to attribute the Medeco lock number to a box serial number. The metal shop took longer. The powder coater took 3 days longer. And of course the laser etching times is why I've invested in one of these:

Okay. Good. What else can we get that bad boy working on? Looks like the kind of machine that needs to run 24x7 to cover costs.

Cool. What format CAD files does it take and what kind of material can it cut? Maybe you can start a Wit's End laser cutting service.

Please how can I get one!?

Actually the best part about it is it just uses a printer driver. Any laptop can print to it using Illustrator or Corel. But DWG files are fine.

if you don't have it already - make sure you get the vector cutting grid... makes everything so much easier and better looking.

@NLXTACY , Are the Scout boxes all spoken for? I'd like to get one and all the liners since this is the last run of them.

same here! I'm in if there are any unaccounted for.

@NLXTACY I wish you were my neighbor...

I work in 3D Printing and love love love all things etching/cutting/lasering/additive
