East coast events?!? Now you really have me excited! Subscribed!!!Just getting home from Montana. Chris and I chatted tonight about how great the video is and all the questions here.
100 trucks in Silverton will be the max for the foreseeable future.
There will be more than one event per year. The others will be smaller and centered more around longer distances and more remote areas. Moab will be next and we're working on it right now. Chris and I have been coordinating via text tonight to work on logistics. Permitting and proper space are actually tougher in Moab.
The size of HIH ensures that everyone knows everyone and we can all gather together. It's something you have to experience to understand. We're not excluding anyone and we can absolutely get a permit for double the trucks and people, but that doesn't allow us to all gather at the Wyman for opening night, or all fit into the lodge for dinner. We don't sell raffle tickets. Everyone gets just one. Your chances are way better than 1/100 to win a $1,000+ item. That's the idea. Kids make friends, parents make friends, everyone has a great time. Baseball, bike riding, exploring, .....it's more than wheeling.
There will be smaller East Coast events in the future. Were trying to ensure that there is organic growth to the event. Too many events all over the country and HIH stops being a destination event. There is only one HIH and that's in Silverton, Colorado. The Moab event has a slightly different name. HIH is a registered non-profit in the State of Colorado.
Thanks for understanding.
Part of the allure of the event is its small and intimate size. It's not a money making business. Everything we do is aimed at providing the best experience possible. We choose the highest quality shirts, printers, inks and designers to ensure that the gear you receive or purchase will last longer than your drive home. We test the stickers to make sure they won't fade, we wash and dry the shirts to see if they'll hold true to size.
All of this takes a long time to do and we won't allow someone to use the HIH name to create something that is second rate.
Great video - that sort of quality takes time and skill, thanks for your effort!
I've uploaded all of my photos here. If I got a photo of your truck please feel free to grab a copy, and apologies in advance for the copious photos of mine. I don't have much of a trip report, although I did finally pull the track log for around Silverton:

Definitely worth the drive up. I didn't make it right to the top as I had to come back and prepare for the pot luck, but next time I'm there I'll aim to drive/walk to the summit. As @Odyseuss mentioned, there was still some snow at the top blocking the road to the lookout, still worth the drive though!@D_Web ... good call on Kendall Mountain! How was it this year? I'm heading up there in 2 weeks
Great Pictures! Are your wheels plati dipped and thats tannish color just dust? Or did you paint them? Either way it looks amazing for your rig.View attachment 1518035

Your setup had to be my favorite! Now to keep this on topic, here's a picture of the setup we took to HIH7 the AT Chaser trailer was rolling on hundy wheels for its first time. It was nice to see so many cool trailers at the event.
It is on the Kendal Mountain road. If you follow the road that passed by camp you would end up climbing into a basin on the backside of Kendal Mountain and have the option to go to the top. It seems several of us took unofficial drives up that during the week. I liked it until the dang sheep started throwing rocks at my Cruiser...Where did you see that old wooden railcar? Did anyone get a pic of the Prius on the Black Bear switch backs on the Thursday run, if so please post here. Was just telling a friend about this and he called BS. BTW, that also produced the best camp joke, imo. "Did you see the guy that planted his Prius in the dip at the switch back, totally buried the the front end, two flat front tires, and was leaking electricity all over the trail"........
