How many miles is that? And fantastic pictures!
Thanks, I just take 50 photos of the same thing and one is bound to turn out OK :) Your link works fine - some great pics in there also.

About 233 miles in total on the trails and 1300 in total for the trip. Attached is a KMZ file with the tracks I drove.

Pretty nice photos, especially for a lurker! :)

Just getting home from Montana. Chris and I chatted tonight about how great the video is and all the questions here.

100 trucks in Silverton will be the max for the foreseeable future.

There will be more than one event per year. The others will be smaller and centered more around longer distances and more remote areas. Moab will be next and we're working on it right now. Chris and I have been coordinating via text tonight to work on logistics. Permitting and proper space are actually tougher in Moab.

The size of HIH ensures that everyone knows everyone and we can all gather together. It's something you have to experience to understand. We're not excluding anyone and we can absolutely get a permit for double the trucks and people, but that doesn't allow us to all gather at the Wyman for opening night, or all fit into the lodge for dinner. We don't sell raffle tickets. Everyone gets just one. Your chances are way better than 1/100 to win a $1,000+ item. That's the idea. Kids make friends, parents make friends, everyone has a great time. Baseball, bike riding, exploring, .....it's more than wheeling.

There will be smaller East Coast events in the future. Were trying to ensure that there is organic growth to the event. Too many events all over the country and HIH stops being a destination event. There is only one HIH and that's in Silverton, Colorado. The Moab event has a slightly different name. HIH is a registered non-profit in the State of Colorado.

Thanks for understanding.

Part of the allure of the event is its small and intimate size. It's not a money making business. Everything we do is aimed at providing the best experience possible. We choose the highest quality shirts, printers, inks and designers to ensure that the gear you receive or purchase will last longer than your drive home. We test the stickers to make sure they won't fade, we wash and dry the shirts to see if they'll hold true to size.

All of this takes a long time to do and we won't allow someone to use the HIH name to create something that is second rate.
East coast events?!? Now you really have me excited! Subscribed!!!

I have so much to get caught up on and I'm finally getting around to the trip report. This slacker will keep the thread alive a bit more and in doing so, I get to reminisce. Its so awesome to hear all the great stories about the pilgrimage out to HIH7, seeing the photos and videos. Greeting the familiar faces and making new acquaintances leaves me wishing that I had met a few more.

We brought the young kids 1&4 that kept us on our toes and probably woke the neighbors a few times. Driving the curves of 550 had my daughter spewing. The drive up to Clear Lake got the kids playing in the rocks and snow. I meant to ask how Super Secret got its name, but my little girl was tasting more of the rocks. I was stoked to have the opportunity to lead Ophir and then I got free beer too. We played around in Telluride and rode the Gondola. The pouring rain gave my son plenty of mud puddles to stomp and bike around in. We drove through the clouds of Corkscrew and explored the town of Animas Forks. On our way back, we toured the Old Hundred Gold mine(it fit the hundred theme). Paying a visit to the miners shrine, we saw a bit more of Silverton. We took up the rear and gunned for Stan on Black Bear. Then we went back through Ophir and up past an old rail car to the top of Kendall Mtn.

Great video - that sort of quality takes time and skill, thanks for your effort!

I've uploaded all of my photos here. If I got a photo of your truck please feel free to grab a copy, and apologies in advance for the copious photos of mine. I don't have much of a trip report, although I did finally pull the track log for around Silverton:

@D_Web ... good call on Kendall Mountain! How was it this year? I'm heading up there in 2 weeks

Definitely worth the drive up. I didn't make it right to the top as I had to come back and prepare for the pot luck, but next time I'm there I'll aim to drive/walk to the summit. As @Odyseuss mentioned, there was still some snow at the top blocking the road to the lookout, still worth the drive though!

Here are some pics from my phone, kind of crappy. I need a new phone.

Now to keep this on topic, here's a picture of the setup we took to HIH7 the AT Chaser trailer was rolling on hundy wheels for its first time. It was nice to see so many cool trailers at the event.

Your setup had to be my favorite!

Where did you see that old wooden railcar? Need to see that next time.
It is on the Kendal Mountain road. If you follow the road that passed by camp you would end up climbing into a basin on the backside of Kendal Mountain and have the option to go to the top. It seems several of us took unofficial drives up that during the week. I liked it until the dang sheep started throwing rocks at my Cruiser...

Weeks have gone by and I am still too eager to share memories and photos from this awesome event.

The effortless hospitality and comradery from all who attended is an apt reflection of the quality, effort and vision of @bluecruiser, @paflytyer and team. You all made it easy and memorable for us and it is very much appreciated.

People Highlights :
- @aaronrules impromptu drawer demo that highlighted how woefully under prepared we all are.

- @CreasyBear 's Tent Maj Hal tour and realizing too little too late that he had the perfect "You park like an A_hole" stickers for cars parked at the end of a blackbears switch backs.

- Meeting @Austin Hot Shoe, his awesome wife Monica, them offering us shelter from the rain and karma repaying them with a sweet Dissent front bumper at the raffle.

- @mattafact, a small group and I performing camper awning repairs with a flat head screwdriver, mallet, dying hand drill with too much beer in our system

- My son insisting we come back because he had "the best week ever"

It was great meeting everyone.
Cheers!
Ed

Rock throwing sheep!? Hooligans!

Did anyone get a pic of the Prius on the Black Bear switch backs on the Thursday run, if so please post here. Was just telling a friend about this and he called BS. BTW, that also produced the best camp joke, imo. "Did you see the guy that planted his Prius in the dip at the switch back, totally buried the the front end, two flat front tires, and was leaking electricity all over the trail"........

That Prius is hilarious. Cannot believe someone took that on the trail.
